Here’s who will perform on Saturday evening at the ESSENCE 2024 Cultural Festival
With the 2024 ESSENCE Cultural Festival just just a few weeks away, people across the country are preparing their outfits and dusting off their dancing shoes to go to the amazing city of New Orleans on July 4-7 to have a good time Black joy, Black music, and 30 years of Loving Us. Night 2 A series of evening concert events at Caesar’s Superdome features an all-star lineup of fantastic performers, including our Saturday headliner Usher, who will be celebrating his twentieth anniversary .
Saturday, hosted by Kenny Burns and with the sounds of DJ Clark Kent moving the evening in between, is a one-day event that not only helps have a good time our thirtieth anniversary, but additionally 20 years of Usher’s classic album that defined R&B.
In addition to the most important event, the evening will feature more classic sounds performed by everyone’s favorite Uncle Charlie Wilson and a celebration hosted by DJ D-Nice, who, with somewhat help from his famous friends, hosts a special edition of Quarantine Radio Sheila E., Big Boi, Tweet, Donell Jones, Lloyd and Machel Montano (plus just a few surprise guests). We can also’t ignore the musical stylings of Nigerian singer-songwriter Ayra Starr, who will kick off the evening celebration along with her special genre of R&B/Afrobeats.
Here’s what you’ll be able to expect during Saturday’s concert series.
Usher
We’re serious about turning 30! To help us highlight this, our cover star Usher will take the stage for a special one-night-only performance to have a good time his own milestone – the twentieth anniversary of the release of his genre-defining cult classic, .

For the love of R&B, none apart from the voice of Charlie Wilson’s generation will light up our stage during our thirtieth ESSENCE Fest celebration with a performance that is bound to be “outstanding.”

The legendary singer and drummer will bring a return to Club Quarantine Live in D-Nice on Saturday evening, performing a few of her classic hits accompanied by New Age classics.

Big Boi
One half of Southern hip-hop titan Outkast will nod to the genre’s wealthy Southern history and lasting influence with a Club Quarantine-approved rendition of a few of his biggest hits with a bass-heavy beat.
