The first wave of summer music festivals will go ahead without Victoria Monét, and the Grammy winner is “devastated.” Due to health reasons, the singer withdrew from Governors Ball and subsequent upcoming festivals.

On Monday, the “On My Mama” singer broke the news to fans in a post on her Instagram Stories. In addition to the Governors Ball music festival in early June, Monét is withdrawing from Roots Picnic and the Blavity House Party Music Festival.

“I regret to inform you that I will no longer be able to perform at Governors Ball (NYC), Roots Picnic (Philadelphia) or Blavity (Nashville) in June,” she wrote in her post: according to People magazine. “I’m so sorry!! To be honest, I’m dealing with some ongoing health issues that I need to address right now, but I’ll be back on the field soon, that’s a promise!”

She added, “Please know this wasn’t an easy conversation, but it’s definitely for the best.”

The R&B singer-songwriter said she plans to appear at “all the other shows” she has scheduled for this summer, including the Broccoli City Festival in Washington, D.C. in July, Lollapalooza in Chicago in August and the Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco as well in August.

“See you soon,” she concluded her statement.

While Monét hasn’t talked intimately about her health issues, she recently opened up about her struggles with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a hormonal and reproductive disorder that affects one in 10 women of reproductive age and which disproportionately affects black women. Symptoms of this disorder may include irregular periods, infertility, enlarged ovaries, pimples, excess body hair and weight gain.

After her final performance at Coachella 2024 in April, the artist made headlines by posting footage of her performance and noting that there have been “two moons” on stage that night.

“Well.. I gained a lot of weight, which happened in many places, lol, face, arms, stomach and most importantly… datasss,” Monét wrote. She added: “I’m usually very critical and frustrated about it because PCOS has really screwed me up, but optimistically, at least there are two moons on the scene now.”
