Gayle King’s son William Bumpus Jr. is getting married in Oprah’s house

Fresh off her debut Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, Gayle King has more excellent news. On June 2, her son, William Bumpus Jr., 37, married Elise Smith in an intimate, elegant family wedding held at the house of Oprah Winfrey herself.

After the news was revealed on Tuesday’s episode of “CBS Mornings”, the 69-year-old presenter shared several photos and videos from the massive day in multiple Instagram posts.

“Favorite son Will found the girl of his dreams,” she began in the caption post they included a photograph of the bride and groom holding hands, a photograph of the king hugging his son and other photos from Sunday’s ceremony, including the moment the bride reached the aisle.

“Now the lovely (Elise Smith) is an official member of the family,” she continued in the caption. “It was a truly spectacular family wedding!”

King continued to gush concerning the wedding, adding that Smith’s father was the officiant and her mother gave her away, and he or she praised others like her daughter, Kirby Bumpus, and Smith’s sister for his or her involvement. She also thanked her longtime friend, media mogul Oprah Winfrey, for organizing the event.

“Thanks to (Oprah), the marriage in her ‘backyard’ was magical! She did all the pieces she could,” she wrote.

King emphasized that Winfrey worked with Chef Mei LinDavid and Marco events, Diana D from Porchand “secret weapon” Urania Greene.

“All together it made for an epic wedding,” she added.

Both the bride and the king wore Amsale dresses. The bride’s dress was strapless and decorated with white floral embroidery, while King selected a blue gown. The groom wore a white tuxedo jacket and black pants.

The photos shared by King show that the marriage took place outdoors, surrounded by flowers. The weekend festivities included a welcome dinner at Rosewood Miramar Beach, which ended with an impromptu dance party in a room with out a dance floor with Moses Lin as DJ.

“Black people always find a way, especially my family.” King joked in the caption.

Discussing the marriage weekend on “CBS Mornings,” King said the number two has significance for the couple, who met on the second day, went on their first date the second day and got engaged the second day. She said her favorite a part of the marriage was the marriage vows, which the couple wrote themselves. She added that the colour of the day was blue and joked that the “place” had “very reasonable prices”.

In an Instagram post, King shared her review of Winfrey’s wedding planning and officiating.

She said, “Turns out she’s a pretty good wedding planner!”
