New Music This Week: Tems Releases Long-Awaited Debut Album ‘Born In The Wild’

GRAMMY Award-winning and Oscar-nominated singer, songwriter and producer Tems has had an unforgettable 12 months. Just days after kicking off NPR’s Black Music Month with an incredible Tiny Desk performance, the Nigerian superstar debuts his long-awaited debut album,

Temsa’s recent project features 18 tracks, including the previously released “Love me JeJe” The album also featured guest appearances by Asake and J. Cole. “This is the story of the transformation from a cocoon to a butterfly,” she said in a press release. “It’s about surviving the mental wilderness and attending to a spot where you’ll be able to thrive. It’s about finally accepting myself and embodying the girl I used to be born to be. It shows the various dimensions of who I’m, from cub to lioness.

In addition to today’s release, the “Essence” singer will embark on her first headlining world tour this summer, . The global tour kicks off on Wednesday, June 12 in London on the Eventim Apollo, with stops in Europe and North America before heading to Africa and concluding on November 15 in Australia at The Hordern Pavilion in Sydney.
