“Who booked this place for me?” and other questions I, too, have regarding Cam’ron’s appearance on CNN

When rapper Cam’ron asked CNN’s “NewsNight” host and favorite news anchor Abby Phillip, “Hey, who booked this place for me?” he was actually saying the quiet part out loud. Over the course of three and a half minutes, the typically charming, obnoxious rapper, known for his obnoxious charm, seemed annoyed and annoyed, as if he’d quite be anywhere else but there.

Which raises two really essential questions:

1. Who book Cam’ron for this (and what exactly did they expect)?

I feel the query of who booked it’s irrelevant – the essential query here is why. Nothing about Cam’ron gives the look of somebody who must be taken seriously in this variety of space. He hosts his own show with Mase, “It Is What It Is” – where antics are the one thing on the agenda. I like Cam’ron, but when I used to be within the room when the names of potential guests were being thrown out, my immediate thought could be, “Guys, why would we do something like that? Haven’t any of you seen any of Cam’ron’s previous media clips on news shows? It may prove wonderful. However, there’s a really high probability that not every thing will go as we expect.

I do not really think anyone who knows Cam’ron (and I’ll throw Abby Phillip in there too; I assume she knows him enough to know the way Cam’ron has been doing since everyone has grow to be accustomed to him) has been surprised or shocked . Cam’ron took this opportunity to take his sexual stamina complement, Pink Horse Power, and mentioned that he was going to get slapped after drinking a jolt of Horse Power. He also plugged his podcast, “It Is What It Is.”

2. Why did Cam’ron go in any respect?

I wasn’t shocked by Cam’ron’s attitude. I used to be a little bit surprised considering he was talking to Abby Phillip, who by all accounts is a media darling and seemingly loved by most, and also because he didn’t mind talking about Diddy – or anyone – in any respect. Cam’ron was much, much nicer in other spaces. Maybe he doesn’t know Abby; no shade, but I doubt Cam’ron watches much election coverage. He seemed very annoyed along with his presence, which is surprising because he didn’t have to go. Why comply with an interview and then get indignant on a regular basis? And let’s be clear; he knew exactly why he was invited there, and he confirmed this on his own show with Mase. Anyone who has ever been on any news program will let you know why they need you there before they show up. I speak from experience. It’s not like her questions were crazy.

Entertainment

As it seems, Cam’ron was right in his gut about being asked to comment on Diddy – the subject EVERYONE is talking about – as a substitute of the positive things he and Mase have done individually and through their show. Again, I like Cam’ron, but this is the dumbest thing I’ve heard in a protracted time. Their show It Is What It Is is literally 100% bullshit, and they’ve talked about Puffy before. Cam’ron being upset that CNN called them to speak about current events is silly. Especially since he could EASILY turn this conversation right into a conversation, no matter what positive things they’re doing.

Because, again, Cam’ron’s charm, even when he’s behaving inappropriately, is his calling card. He could say some nonsense, but he does it with a sinister smile and you only laugh it off and keep moving. He could say that despite the fact that he doesn’t know Puff that much, he knows what number of things they do which are good for the community, unlike Puff. The growling energy Cam’ron gave Abby felt unnecessary and really didn’t deserve it.

At one point, after plugging in Pink Horse Power, “It Is What It Is?” and said “cheeks” on the air, decided he was done and effectively accomplished the conversion while Abby gave him and the camera a glance that every one Black people recognized. There’s a phrase that I can not use here for network censorship purposes, but I feel like all Black people know what she meant.

Ironically, Abby had the funniest a part of the interview when she realized it was over and annoyingly called the person by his government name: “Cameron… thanks for joining me.” There must have been some shade there. I appreciate it and I’m sure Cam’ron will too.
