‘Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard’ star Jordan Emanuel documents his baldness treatment journey

After opening up about living with alopecia within the second season of Bravo’s Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard, Jordan Emanuel is embarking on a journey to heal his alopecia. And he takes his fans along for the ride.

The Bravo star announced her journey through Instagram video introduces her doctor, a dermatologist from New York Paul Jarrod Frankguiding her through the complex treatment process.

“I’ve tried just about everything in the past. Injections, topical medications, oral medications, prayer, meditation,” Emanuel explains within the video. “Today we will try VSEL hair restoration.”

Emanuel adds that VSEL stem cell hair restoration involves drawing blood from a patient, centrifuging it to separate platelets and other blood components, after which injecting these stem cells into the scalp.

Frank adds that along with several oral medications, including Nutrafol, one of the best treatment for Emanuel’s condition can be to take the medication monthly for the following three months.

“When it comes to hair loss, a combination is always best,” he explains.

The dermatologist also notes that alopecia areata is a quite common autoimmune disease that may cause hair loss that’s difficult to treat. Not only is the condition common, nevertheless it also disproportionately affects black women. According to Johns Hopkins Hospital, roughly half of black women will experience some extent of hair loss. Many people may never seek medical help and thus go undiagnosed.

While talking to Refinery 29 in 2020. Emanuel said that her baldness journey began in 2018. Since then, she has steadily opened up concerning the experience.

When her journey was revealed in “Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard”, Emanuel was upset, but she managed to get through the moment with the group.

She added: “I think it was a natural part of what I was going through. And of course I will share with my friends what I am going through.”
