Steve Harvey looks sideways at Bernie Mac during the ‘Kings of Comedy’ promotional tour in the restored clip
Rumors about Bernie Mac and Steve Harvey’s skilled relationship turmoil have been circulating in Hollywood for years. Other comedians and pundits, including Katt Williams, suggest that the dynamic between them was fueled by competition and maybe jealousy from the “Family Feud” host.
Now an old video of the two comedians promoting their “Kings of Comedy” tour has surfaced, sparking speculation on social media about Steve’s feelings for the “The Bernie Mac Show” star.
In the restored clip sent by @Iam_big_bankz, Bernie tells a joke during a radio interview, young Cedric The Entertainer bursts out laughing and DL Hughley seems to focus on the joke.
However, Steve is seen from the side, with what appears to be a sour face. While the clip is probably going taken out of context, social media sleuths say the evidence is evident: “Steve has a lot of hate” in the clip.
Others spoke up too.
“You can see the hate on his face,” one person wrote. Another person added: “Oh shit everything is ready (two laughing emojis). Steve has some explaining to do.”
A 3rd comment read: “Steve wonders what jokes he’s going to steal.” A fourth web user said: “They knew Bernie was THE ONE!!!!”
To some, the short clip appears to indicate Harvey’s “jealousy, envy and hatred” for Mac, including one one who said, “To me it looks like he’s just looking at Bernie.”
Some individuals who have seen the original footage say the camera cut out before Steve had a likelihood to laugh. They consider the video was edited to fuel the “narrative” about their beef. “Yeah. Steve Harvey always looks like that, but you know… divide and conquer.”
Still, many comedy experts have spoken publicly about the “Think Like a Man” creator’s true feelings toward Bernie from their perspective.
DL said during his interview with DJ Vlad in 2018 that a feud between Steve and Bernie prevented a sequel from being made. According to a different “Kings of Comedy” star, Steve was a number one man and had rather a lot of mainstream success, “and then Bernie started getting it,” which became an issue.
Third “King of Comedy” – Cedric says they got over their differences during the original tour, but tensions prevented them from doing a second comedy tour.
“They are both alpha males. They both… just saw it differently,” he explained. “But they finally got through it.”
Radio host Ed Lover confirmed the tension when he heard Steve wanted the role of Bernie on “Ocean’s Eleven” and even told producers he was willing to pay less to play Frank Catton.
“All I can say is what Bernie told me” – “Yo! “MTV Raps host,” he said during an interview on “The Culture Club Uncensored.” “And he was upset with Steve because he said Steve was attempting to get him faraway from Ocean’s – the Ocean movie he starred in… and he was attempting to compete for his role once he was hired. And, uh, Bernie never lied to me. That’s all I’ll say. He was my friend. I loved him.”
Katt took it a step further in an interview on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast. He claims he turned down the likelihood to make Kings of Comedy 2 because of the way Steve was “pressuring Bernie.”
The “Pimpin’ Pimpin'” comedian said that Steve began the narrative and continued last because he was funnier than Bernie. According to Katt, Steve didn’t tell many individuals it was his tour and that is why he ended the show.
“The reason you had to go last was because of your route, tell the truth,” he said. “This was Steve’s tour… These are guys who performed before him. Of course you’ve gotten to shut if that is your trip.
Good job, Kat Williams. I’ve said all along that Bernie Mac was the funniest man on Kings of Comedy.

Until he “humbles himself,” Katt said Steve will endlessly be Mac’s “king of the king.”
“This man was funnier than all of you and you all thought you had one on him,” he explained. “You thought he was black and ugly and handsome, and he couldn’t come because you probably did it… and that is not the way comedy works. The king is the funniest.
To Bernie Mac’s daughter, Je’Niece McCullough, that she knew the industry was cutthroat and that folks just didn’t get along during an Instagram Live video.
She said that her dad knew that many individuals didn’t like him and didn’t appreciate him, and gave her this little piece of advice: “If you ever want someone to love you… If you ever want to be special… just die.”
Bernie Mac died on August 9, 2008, roughly eight years after the end of the “Kings of Comedy” tour. He was 50 years old. The tour ended in early 2000, the last time Steve and Bernie worked together.
