Beauty secrets your favorite influencers learned from their mothers

We have this true OG beauty. Before they became mothers, they were pioneers of lots of the trends we’re obsessive about today. They dominated the world and looked rattling good doing it. When they grow to be mothers, they start to pass on their secrets to their children. That said, the wonder gurus you recognize and love do not get their beauty secrets solely from trends; additionally they get them from their mothers!
To rejoice Mother’s Day today, we caught up with some beauty influencers to learn more about what their mothers taught them about beauty.
KiraJoe, TikTok a beloved beauty guru, she grew up watching her mother bask in makeup. “My mom always kept it simple,” Joe said. Her mother’s makeup consisted of the next: lip liner, lipstick, blush, and eyebrow filling. Joe watched in awe as her mother prepared. One day, curiosity led her to her mother’s beautician. “I remember once taking my mom’s MAC lipstick to kindergarten. I put it on myself and all my friends,” Joe says.
As she entered her teens, Joe began fiddling with makeup identical to her mother did. She experimented with various products and sweetness trends. “My mom always tried to give me makeup advice, even if I didn’t want to hear it,” says Joe. Like most mothers and daughters, they didn’t at all times agree on trends. Over time, Joe realized that her mother was right to maintain things easy. “My mom always says, ‘Give it your all and God will do the rest.'”
Omofonmwan’s mother’s skincare might be considered a part of today’s “soft girl aesthetic.” Growing up on a small island meant that skincare resources were very limited, leading to Omofonmwan’s mother using regular facial cleanser and shea butter as her moisturizer.
The simplicity continued throughout Omofonmwan’s childhood: “Watching my mother helped me not to indulge in too much skin care,” Omofonmwan says. Known mostly for her ambitious skincare videos, Omofonmwan frequently shares her smooth skin with shea butter ICT Tok. Her infectious body glow showed us all that we will achieve our skin goals with only a tiny amount of product.
Although Omofonmwan receives quite a lot of praise online for her flawless skin, she owes it to her mother. “My mother always told me how important it was to have freedom when it came to skin care and how important it was as a spiritual experience,” she says. “I believe it helped me want to take care of myself as a woman because skin care is how I can put it into a cup.”
Wilky marvels at her mother’s immense love of fashion and the way she turned every moment into her catwalk, big and small. “My mom always loved dressing up! Whether it be a small job or the Met Gala, she will be dressed!” Wilky’s confidence began to grow as she witnessed her mother unapologetically come into herself. Fashion also became a type of expression for Wilky and her mother. For them, clothes were a technique to express how they felt inside. The old saying goes, “when you look good, you feel good.” “My mother’s fashion always allowed me to express myself in the best way that I felt was unique!”
Brooke DeVard Podcast Naked beauty explores beauty beyond the surface. She delves into the journey of health and self-care to learn more in regards to the women who influence us all. Before DeVard interviewed industry changers, she noticed how necessary beauty was to her mother when she was a bit of girl. “Whether it was bathing, displaying her beautiful collection of vintage perfume bottles, or deep hair care, my mother always made time to invest in self-care,” says DeVard. Her mother’s love of indulging in various types of beauty showed DeVard at a young age that self-care might be multifaceted.
Plus, “my mom set an example for me: just because you’re a mother, a wife, or a working parent doesn’t mean you have to neglect yourself,” she says. “I try to stay consistent with my overall wellness plans and, when possible, set aside time for myself for other self-care practices,” DeVard continues. This attitude has helped DeVard grow to be the most effective version of herself, run a successful business and be a loving mother.
