The founding father of Lighthouse Church found himself at the center of a viral debate after a video surfaced online of him snapping his finger and announcing for a parishioner to remain silent amid her continued wailing.

The pastor repeated his direct message, saying, “Be silent in the name of Jesus. The only voice I want to hear is his.”

On May 7, he joined his wife Shaunie Henderson, Shaquille O’Neal’s ex-wife, during her appearance on “Tamron Hall,” where he addressed the mixed reactions to his intervention.

“Social media is all about cuts, not context, and every suggestion I’ve received from every doubter, I’ve already done,” Henderson began, seemingly attacking users who argued that a higher plan of action can be to handle the matter privately.

He also confirmed what some had said about the woman who had a history of exhibiting any such behavior.

“It’s true, it’s a four-year battle. It’s a work in progress,” he told Hall, adding: “I’ve already talked to her personally; I’ve had ushers come up to her; I already had prayer warriors; I had all the pieces, so she did it publicly after being asked not to.

He continued, “As a pastor, I know the difference between disruption and worship and that’s something people need to understand. People need to understand that every time you hear noise in church, it is not worship.”

Moreover, Henderson maintained the spirit-led silence, explaining: “There must be order. For example, you can clap in this room right now, but if someone just stood up and started clapping right now, I’m sure someone would clean up the room. So I tidied up the room so people could hear God and not her, and I will do it again if need be.”

Once again, there have been loads of them reactionsbut like those seen with the viral clip, it was met with overwhelming support.

“Anyone who has regularly attended a black church knows it’s ALWAYS THE ONE!” – wrote an Instagram user. Someone else said: “He’s not wrong, she needs to STF you.”

A 3rd person applauded the religious leader as she commented: Standing on sacred matters. The man said, “I’ll do it again.”

However, at the very least one person expressed dissatisfaction with the woman’s public treatment, in addition to the pastor’s equally public defense of himself.

“Okay… now in some unspecified time in the future I would depart the church… because why are you talking about me on TV? lol why not bring this lady? No one wants to hear her side? …it’s an excessive amount of! I’m sorry,” we read in the criticism.

Shaunie not only showed that she supported her husband, but additionally laughed in outrage. The almost four-year-old couple got married in 2022. She shares more about their relationship and past with Shaq in her recent book, “Undefeated: Changing the Rules and Winning on My Own Terms.”
