Tiffany Haddish accidentally spills the tea Common has been courting for two years, which apparently interrupts his dating schedule with Angela Rye

Rapper and activist Common is understood for being a serial dater and unable to remain in relationships. He has dated skilled athletes, political analysts, Emmy-winning singers and actors, and a few would say he’s the happiest man in the world.

But not his ex Tiffany Haddish, who claims Common is the only star she had an affair with.

“The only star I have ever met. He pursued me for two years before I finally said, ‘OK, let’s do something.’ It was the best result in 2020,” she said he said People Magazine.

Haddish confirmed that she and Common were dating in August 2020, after filming wrapped on the 2019 film “The Kitchen.”

While she previously claimed they first met on set, she now claims the “Testify” artist pursued her for two years before they met. “We met at the beginning of 2018, 2017,” she said.

They decided to separate in August 2021, but Haddish found the split unexpected, claiming she missed all the red flags before Common broke up with her over the phone and he didn’t invite her to his party.

“Everyone was like, ‘Oh, Tiffany, you wanted to marry him so bad,’ and I said, if I wanted to marry this man, I wouldn’t have talked about him buying me an apartment building,” the “Girls Trip” actress said. “I believe that the act is more powerful than a marriage license and it is easier to get out of it. At least there is some return on this investment.”

Common and Haddish’s romance began shortly after his on-again, off-again relationship with Angela Rye. They began dating in 2017 and split for good in 2019, which coincides with the time Common began dating her friend.

Rye’s former partner previously stated that he had lost interest in the relationship, although the former CNN contributor believed they were heading in a unique direction.

“We talked for about two months about it, let’s see how things go because I was leaning towards ‘I want kids’ and he was leaning towards ‘I don’t know,'” Rye said on her “On One with Angela” Rye” with December 2020 “I think when someone tells you I don’t know, they’re just telling you because they don’t really want to hurt you.”

She continued: “She is more established in her profession. We have a small age difference. And he has a totally grown, wonderful daughter who’s studying law. So not wanting to start out over is an issue.

Common also dated neo-soul singer Erykah Badu for two years and claimed in 2002 that he had difficulty “eating” while reflecting on his “first love.”

“I discovered that I didn’t really believe in myself with all my heart, every bit of me that was in my body, and I discovered that through the breakup. I was in a relationship with Erykah Badu,” Common said in 2018. “When we broke up, one of the most important things I discovered was that I was afraid to carry my greatness… Which meant I could be in a relationship and dimmed by my light to others.”

Common also dated Serena Williams. He is currently romantically linked to fellow Chicagoan Jennifer Hudson. They have been dating for over a 12 months and he reportedly recently asked her to marry him, but she declined.

There was no information confirming the marriage proposal between them.
