Some songwriters claim that their best songs come from experiences they’ve had. That appears to be the case with singer/songwriter Ne-Yo and his latest song “2 Million Secrets,” which he debuted in his NPR appearance.

His “Tiny Desk Concert” performance dropped on Friday, April 26, and in in the future it has already racked up nearly half a million views. Dressed in white and wearing his signature fedora, Ne-Yo sang his song, which he wrote for Beyoncé, Rihanna, Mario and himself, to a small audience.

He also debuted his latest song, which apparently required him to have his “st.”

“The next song I’m about to sing for you is a new song,” he announced. “It took some effort on my part to write this song. … Even more to sing.”

He said: “This song is basically about owning your shit. That’s the best way I can put it.”

Ne-Yo, who has sold greater than 29 million albums in his own catalog, said that “no one is above mistakes” and “no one is above redemption.”

“This Song Isn’t a Song”, referring to the title “2 Million Secrets”. “This song is a confession.”

The ballad begins with the 44-year-old asking if he has ever been caught cheating on his partner in a way that is virtually inconceivable to disclaim. He then recounts a scenario where his lady found a cellular phone with “some graphic videos” in his bag.

“She saw it all. She has seen things that cannot be unseen,” Ne-Yo slurs. “There’s no way I could deny it was me. So now I drink a little more, I’ve been smoking a little more lately. I kept 2 million secrets. She has every reason to hate me… because I played with her heart.”

He continued, “Never limit you to the duties of a wife, let you do whatever you want, because I had a couple in the background who gave me what I couldn’t get from you.”

The song appears to contain two notable headlines that have made the rounds on the Internet.

Recently, his ex-wife Crystal Renay Smith sat down with podcast host Osei The Dark Secret on “The Culture Club Uncensored” and discussed the dissolution of her relationship with the Grammy winner. They married in 2016, but during an exclusive chat last month, she revealed how she found out Ne-Yo was cheating after renewing their vows in 2022.

“We renewed our vows and everything, and three months later I found out everything. I wasn’t in a situation where I knew something was going on and I was still there. No, the day I found out is the day I left and the day I filed for divorce.

When asked how she found out about it, Smith replied: “On the phone and in my backpack. An extra phone… It didn’t take much digging.

She said the phone told her everything she needed to know and had the same password as his other phone, which led her to file for divorce. She also claimed that they are in a good place where they can co-parent civilly. But because she is terrified of marrying Ne-Yo, she doesn’t know if she will ever marry again.

“Marriage scares the hell out of me right now,” Smith said, adding: “It felt like my last marriage, living with a stranger, because the person I was in love with is not the person she is now. And no shade, no disrespect, but it’s a scary feeling, so I don’t ever want to be blinded again like I was in the past.

The couple formally finalized their divorce in a detailed agreement documented in court records from January 2023. In exchange for the $1.6 million settlement, Ne-Yo agreed to donate $20,000 towards Crystal’s relocation costs, $150,000 towards her new vehicle, $12,000 monthly child support and $5,000. monthly alimony until 2026.

The nearly $2 million almost matches the title of his song, “2 Million Secrets.”

They have three children from their relationship, but Ne-Yo is the daddy of seven children. He has two teenage children with his ex Monyetta Shaw-Carter years before Smith married.

One of the explanations she filed for divorce was his infidelity, including having two children with his former lover Sade Bagnerise during their marriage.

Sade recently shared a video of herself arguing with Ne-Yo in his bedroom. When she slammed the “Sexy Love” singer, she shared that his children hang around with prostitutes, he physically abuses her, and he drinks and smokes more (because the song reveals).

“You threw me whole body on the floor. Tell them who you really are and why we are here today?” she said, after repeatedly calling him “Diddy Jr.”

“You fucking like having whores, drugs, weed, alcohol, mushrooms and prostitutes in your house when his kids are here,” she continued. “Everyone has asked him to stop, but he doesn’t listen to anyone. This is what’s happening. This is tea…”

With “Tiny Desk,” Ne-Yo shot to #21 on YouTube and peaked at #21. Although the song premiered in the course of the episode, it isn’t featured on any of his profiles on his digital streaming platforms. There isn’t any set release date.
