The acclaimed annual New York-based film festival returns in June, with its just-released TV and Now lineup featuring exciting recent TV projects starring Issa Rae, Lena Waithe and more, in addition to a series specializing in the life and profession of Serena Williams .

The Tribeca Festival announced this yr’s lineup of “TV and Now” programming on Thursday, featuring what officials say are “highly anticipated world premieres of new and returning shows from networks and streamers leading the way in groundbreaking storytelling, including Apple TV+, AMC, HBO, Hulu , Paramount+ and more.” Series premieres and two first looks at “returning classics” make the festival program actually to not be missed.

One of the most important titles, “Hollywood Black,” comes from “Dear White People” creator Justin Simien, its executive producer. The series is described as an “examination of the Black experience in Hollywood” with stars equivalent to Rae and Waithe, in addition to directors Ryan Coogler and Ava DuVernay.

The ESPN documentary “In the Arena: Serena Williams” is one other major title for the festival, a show they call “a masterclass in excellence in professional sports, capturing the most pivotal and intimate moments of Serena Williams’ life and career.”
