Silence the shame to launch the Mental Health app with Microsoft
Silence the Shame, a number one mental health organization, and tech giant Microsoft are set to unveil an app dedicated to mental health awareness, education and support.
This partnership leverages technology to provide personalized resources to individuals and communities struggling with mental health challenges. The nonprofit organization and Microsoft are calling on communities around the world to join forces to raise awareness and gain a deeper understanding of common mental health issues, according to a press release.
App users can engage with the community by sharing stories, dialogues and exploring the app’s content.
“Two years ago, Darrell Booker and his team at Microsoft incorporated Silence the Shame into their global hackathon, and now we have this beautiful app,” said Shanti Das, CEO and founding father of Silence the Shame. “This is an exciting moment not only for our organization but, more importantly, for communities that have greater access to mental health resources and healthy ways of coping.”
The Atlanta native and former music executive has dedicated her time to improving the health of the community. She talked to before BLACK ENTERPRISES about her commitment to ensuring heart health for multicultural communities as a National Power Ambassador of the American Heart Association.
“We know that many people struggle with a silent battle with mental health,” said Booker, a company affairs specialist at Microsoft. “Technology like the .NET MAUI mobile app powered by Microsoft offers a glimmer of hope,” he said in a press release. “…This app provides a discreet and accessible support platform…It is a lifesaver that can save lives by giving us access to the help we need right from our mobile devices.”
The app’s launch will coincide with the National Day of Silence of Shame on May 5, during Mental Health Awareness Month.
