Sydney Carter Responds to Criticism: ‘I Can’t Help Being Curvy’

Texas A&M women’s basketball coach Sydney Carter responds to the criticism she receives for her performance on the court.

The player development coach and assistant recruiting coordinator appeared on “Way Up With Angela Yee” last week, where she explained her considering when putting together her uniforms. Carter is not trying to offend anyone when deciding what to wear on game day. The Texas A&M University graduate just wants to wear what she feels comfortable in and might’t help but be “curvy.”

“My self-confidence offended people. To today, I do not apologize for who I’m because that is how I used to be raised… It surprised me because ultimately I used to be just doing my job,’ she said. he said Yes.

“And I can not help that I’m curvy. I can not help it, I like to dress a certain way and have never been inappropriate. For me, after all, that is surprising because I ask myself: “What did I do wrong?”

Fans showed support for Carter and her clothing style. Many encouraged her to proceed to be herself and ignore the naysayers.

Her comments come two years after she faced criticism for wearing pink patent leather pants for the twenty second game of the season. When asked in regards to the response, Carter attributed the condemnation to the proven fact that some people were upset in regards to the presence of black women in leadership positions.

“I just think people don’t feel comfortable with a black woman in a position of power,” Carter he said . “I think when you see a black woman who is really confident and embraces herself, it’s very intimidating.”
