‘Cowboy Carter’ Singers Tanner Adell, Tiera Kennedy, Reyna Roberts and Brittney Spencer Reunite at the CMT Music Awards
The singers took the CMT stage as presenters just per week after the release of Beyoncé’s country album.
Tanner Adell, Tiera Kennedy, Reyna Roberts and Brittney Spencer made a splash at the CMT Music Awards together. The singers, all featured on Beyoncé’s album “Cowboy Carter,” were introduced at the music awards ceremony on Sunday evening.
As theGrio previously reported, the 4 singers appeared on Beyoncé’s latest album, “Cowboy Carter.” Singing Queen Bey’s rendition of the Beatles’ hit song “Blackbird,” they harmonize and join Beyoncé on the album’s second track. The song stands out on the album and helped raise the profile of 4 black female country singers.
Adell opened up Billboard on the red carpet, sharing their excitement and pride to be included on the record. “It’s an amazing feeling,” said the outlet’s Tetris Kelly. “Congratulations to Bey, she worked hard – especially… Act I, now we have Act II and I can’t wait for Act III. I’m just starting out and it’s a really amazing feeling that one of my… even one of my favorite artists in the world doesn’t know my name put me on this album and now it’s debuted at number one. It’s very special.”
Roberts also talked about joining Beyoncé on her country album, saying, “I’m just grateful that Beyoncé allowed us to be a part of her dream and her project. It’s phenomenal, I can’t even describe how excited and happy I am.”
The singers revealed that every one 4 “Blackbird” singers received tattoos as an indication of their collaboration. “We all did it in our own style, the way we wanted,” Adell told Billboard. “We just felt like it was a really important moment and something that commemorates the opportunity to work with someone that we all really appreciate.”
With “Cowboy Carter,” Beyoncé becomes the first Black woman to have a rustic album top the Billboard charts, as previously reported. In addition to Adell, Kennedy, Roberts and Spencer, “Cowboy Carter” will feature country music legends Linda Martell, Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton, in addition to contemporary singers corresponding to Miley Cyrus and Post Malone.
