The family of Ruby Garcia, the lady killed by an undocumented immigrant and located on the side of a highway in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is furious after the alleged impeachment of Republican Party nominee Donald Trump he lied about talking to them at his rallies.

As reported by Mavi Garcia, Ruby’s sister “He didn’t talk to any of us, so it was a bit shocking to see him say he talked to us and mislead people on live TV.”

Mavi, who took on the role of family spokesperson, also disagreed with using her sister’s death as a moment of political convenience. She continued: “It was always about illegal immigrants,” Mavi said. “No one really talks about when Americans commit terrible crimes, and it’s kind of shocking why he would bring up the topic of illegals. What about the Americans who commit such terrible crimes?”

Michigan Democrats agree with Mavi Garcia’s stance, as Sen. Debbie Stabenow said during a virtual news conference: “Ruby Garcia’s death was a terrible tragedy,” Stabenow said. “But unfortunately, Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans are determined to exploit Ruby’s death for their own politics. Honestly, I think it’s a shame.”

Garcia too questioned characterization of the connection her sister had together with her killer, Brandon Ortiz-Vite. Authorities say they were boyfriend and girlfriend, while Garcia says their relationship never went that far, but he still wishes Ortiz-Vite had stayed in Mexico.

Trump, nonetheless, met with the family of Laken Riley, whose family has an identical story they claimed that they didn’t want their daughter’s death to be politicized. Nevertheless, conservatives used Riley’s death as a logo of the necessity for immigration reform.

In a March interview, Riley’s father said: “I wish she wasn’t as politically involved as you say – it’s caused an uproar in our country and riled up a lot of people.” Riley continued: “There are people on each side who’ve viciously attacked our families.

“It was really surreal. I just didn’t want to believe it. It’s still hard to believe,” Jason Riley said of what happened, holding back tears. “I wake up every day thinking I can call her, but I can’t.”

Like the Garcia family, Riley condemned the usage of his daughter’s name as a political symbol. “I think it’s being used politically to get those votes,” Jason Riley said. “It upsets me. I feel like, you know, they’re using my daughter’s name for this. And she was so much better and should have been raised to be the person she is. She was an angel.”

Riley is a Trump supporter and appreciates that her death highlighted the necessity to help trafficked women, but continued to argue that Laken’s death “wasn’t that political.”

Meanwhile, Sen. Raphael Warnock accused the Republican Party of doing exactly what Riley doesn’t want. Warnock called the House bill “smoke and mirrors” and desires them to stop “demagogueing this tragic death of this young woman” and encourage them to “take this seriously.”
