Halle Bailey will star in Pharrell Williams’ musical film

Halle Bailey is the newest star to affix Pharrell Williams’ upcoming musical film.

The 24-year-old singer and actress will reportedly join Oscar winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph and “Genius: MLK/X” star Kelvin Harrison Jr. in the film musical about Williams’ coming of age. Diversity.

According to reports, the film will be set in Virginia Beach throughout the summer of 1977 and is inspired by Williams’ childhood growing up in the Atlantis Apartments community. Williams and Mimi Valdés will produce the film through his production company I Am Other, together with Gil Netter through Gil Netter Productions.

Universal Pictures will release the film, which was written by Martin Hynes and Steven Levenson and is currently untitled.

Bailey’s appearance in the film will be her third appearance in a film musical after starring in 2023’s “The Little Mermaid” and “The Color Purple.” Previously the singer of “Anioł”. he told Variety that starring as Ariel in the Disney musical allowed her to “learn a lot about herself.”
