Ice Cube has been criticized for controversial business partnerships as he prepares to launch the seventh season of his Big3 basketball league.

Many of the legendary rapper’s loyal black fans have expressed concern, viewing such alliances as ties to individuals associated with white supremacist ideologies.

The latest season will air on Elon Musk’s X platform, which currently focuses on long-form content.

Expected shows include an untitled show starring Don Lemon, which was initially scheduled to debut on the platform formerly generally known as Twitter. However, the show was canceled after an altercation between Lemon and Musk during their inaugural interview, leading to it being aired on YouTube.

Despite the general public failure with Lemon, Ice Cube and his investors remain undeterred, expressing confidence that this partnership will profit him, the corporate and the league’s players. Cube confirmed the partnership on Friday, March 22, when asked about the potential for broadcasting 3v3 games on Rumble Video.

“Because we’re on X… you better ask someone,” he said he tweeted.

Internet users reacted immediately. One statement suggested that the NWA founder collaborated with racists.

“I love and respect Cube, but all we need to know is his alliance with the white leader,” the person said. “I understand that cash matters, and so do you, my boy. Just keep it 100 and do not Trojan horse it for them. White Supremacy is who you might be and what you represent. Enjoy!!”

Continuing in one other tweet: “I respect your response but just look and see who Elon is connecting with and tell me I’m unsuitable. I still have respect for Cube and all the time will. However, I’m not blind to who he connects with. I just like the Big Three. Both things could be good at the identical time.

The “No Vaseline” rapper learned of the tweets and responded, “Shut the fuck up! I’m not with anything, you trash. I draw my very own fucking lines.

Fans applauded the West Coast rap pioneer.

One person teased the 54-year-old artist-turned-businessman, writing“Did anyone else read this with Ice Cube’s accent? This guy brought back the Friday cube. Love it.”

Other person he was joking“Makes ice cubes just like it says,” while others have created memes to share.

Many thought this move was smart and slammed people for accusing Musk of racism.

“People who think Elon is a racist also think mayonnaise is racist just because he’s white,” wrote one user X. Another he wrote, “People want Elon and X to fail so badly that they hate good collaboration since it means the platform is alive. A LOT OF LAUGHTER.”

Others weren’t buying it.

“I’m sorry, but when MAGA quickly comes out in defense with the words ‘you’ll do it, Cube, they’re trying to get you back in line,’ nothing more needs to be said, brother. Whether we like it or not, optics drive the narrative,” one he tweeted.

He often faces criticism for meeting with right-wing extremist Tucker Carlson. The “Check Yo Self” chart-topper’s history of being associated with individuals or groups perceived as institutionally racist or harmful to Black interests isn’t latest.

In 2020, after the introduction of the Black America Deal – his trite proposal on police and prison reform, bank lending disparities, and more – Cube engaged in discussions with the Trump administration. In a move that drew each criticism and intrigue, he met with then-campaign president Donald J. Trump.

Shortly thereafter, elements of Cube’s CWBA were incorporated into Trump’s Platinum Plan for Black America, a $500 billion initiative ostensibly intended to profit the black community and attract black voters.
