A Florida family devastated after a 15-year-old was killed in an attempted robbery after a movie with friends

Police in Florida have arrested a white 16-year-old on suspicion of murder in connection with the murder of a 15-year-old black girl who was shot during an attempted robbery as she walked with friends after leaving a movie theater.
According to reports from Cape Coral Police Department On March 17, three teenage girls were leaving the Coralwood 10 movie theater and heading to a nearby McDonald’s once they were approached by a silver Nissan Pathfinder. At least one person in the vehicle attempted to rob the women, at which point a lone gunman began shooting at the women, striking Kayla Rincon-Miller in the chest.
The police claim that the perpetrators got into the automobile and fled the scene. When officers responded to reports of shots fired, they arrived and located Rincon-Miller affected by a gunshot wound.
Despite the efforts of the officers who helped her and took her to the hospital, Kayla died from her injuries. The other two girls were superb, as were Fort Myers News Press reported.
In a statement, Cape Coral police spokeswoman Lisa Greenberg said officers arrested Thomas Roy Stein, 16, of North Fort Myers, who faces murder charges. He appeared in court early Wednesday morning.
Based on the evidence, Greenberg concluded that police didn’t imagine the shooting was accidental. “We know there are other people involved in the murder,” she added. “There continues to be a lot to do. “The relentless, diligent work of our detectives continues today to narrow the scope of the investigation.”
Stein was booked into the Lee County Jail but was released lower than two hours later. Sheriff’s office records show the 16-year-old’s hearing in juvenile court will probably be April 8. Bail has not been set. It is unclear whether he has retained an attorney.
Sophia Rickets, who said she was the victim’s cousin, described Rincon-Miller as an “energetic 15-year-old” who “brought joy and light into her parents’ lives” and who was having fun with spring break with friends’ family when she was fatally shot. in accordance with a GoFundMe page set as much as cover medical and funeral costs.
