SZA decided to remove her breast implants, and in a recent podcast interview she talked about an important reason. The star sat down with podcast and said she made the choice after the challenges of fibrosis. Fibrosis occurs when tissue within the body thickens or scars form.

“When I had breast surgery, the doctor took out some of the fibrosis and said, ‘The fibrosis was so bad, it was crazy,’” she said during an interview.

In this context, fibrosis may present as painful breast lumps or cysts. “I actually have markers in my breasts, like metal tags that indicate fibrosis or lumps or something else. I shouldn’t have breast implants,” she continued.

SZA said that after the implants were placed, they proved painful and worsened the fibrosis in her breasts.

“I put them on. They ended up hurting me. “I have way too much scarring because my breasts are too dense and I shouldn’t have breast implants,” she said. “And so I ended up with extra fibrosis, like tissue or whatever, and it didn’t feel good and it was painful. So I took them out and now they are only my boobs.

Although fibrosis shouldn’t be a cancerous disease, the star shared that breast cancer runs in her family and due to this fact. She was told that her calculated lifetime risk of developing the disease was 53%. During the interview, 34-year-old SZA also revealed that her mother had been diagnosed with breast cancer and her aunt had undergone a mastectomy. Both women at the moment are doing well, and her mother has been cancer-free for seven years. Her grandmother had colon cancer and died a couple of years ago.

The “Snooze” singer has done other work that she has been open about with good results. In a 2023 interview, the Grammy winner born Solána Imani Rowe confirmed rumors about her recent hourglass body. She also referenced this in her song “Conceited” from the album.

“I treat my butt like a handbag; it just aims to make everything else better,” she said on the time. “And that’s why I paid for it, because it works on its own.”

She added: “I at all times desired to be really fat and have less time within the gym. I didn’t give in to industry pressure. I gave in to my eyes within the mirror and thought, “No, I need more…”
