They didn’t imagine him when he said he could, but Katt Williams proved them improper – if the most recent viral video is to be believed.

During his January appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast, the “Dark Matters” comedian claimed he could run 40 yards in 4.5 seconds, but nobody thought it was true.

“I’m almost 100 now, but if we go outside now, I can run a 4.3 40. Or sub, I can run a 4.16 if I’m wearing shorts,” Williams said during his Jan. 3 appearance at Club Shay Shay.

It was an idea Sharpe couldn’t fathom on the time.

Williams attempted to silence the doubters shortly after the interview went viral.

He took it Instagram and shared a video of him seemingly running 4.47 on the University of Memphis basketball gym. All Def Comedy referred to Williams because the “fastest comedian alive,” but while his performance was impressive, many still believed he was lying.

“The basketball court is 30 yards away. I love Katt, but that means running a 5.5 40-yard dash,” one comment read.

“Many people over the age of 52 don’t run at all. Do something, Katt,” one other person wrote.

On Friday, March 8, Williams finally silenced the more naive skeptics by showing off his speed. Video shot by Florida State University defensive lineman Jared Verse captured Williams, of the Sports Academy on the Star in Frisco, Texas, allegedly completing the race in 4.97 seconds while being hand-timed, demonstrating his impressive athletic skills.

The clip has since gone viral.

After watching the clip, former San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawn Merriman wrote on Twitter: “The fact that Katt Williams has accomplished nothing at this age is impressive in itself.”

The eight-second clip Merriman shared appears to indicate Williams reaching the finish line well after the six-second mark, so it’s unclear the way it was determined he ran the sub-5-second distance.

Many people on social media at the moment are questioning their words.

“Katt Williams is 52 years old and has a 4.9 GPA. Chances are he was 4.3 when he was younger,” one person wrote on Twitter.

To which one person replied. “No, yes, for his age and size 4.9, he is really impressive.”

This wouldn’t only be impressive but competitive if the timing was accurate.

For comparison: in 2016, as a 22-year-old, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott ran the 40-yard dash in 4.79 seconds, WFAA reports.

Just over a week ago, 21 defensive linemen took part in the 40-yard dash on the 2024 NFL mix in Indianapolis. Among them, Williams’ time of 4.97 would have been the eighth fastest, According to to Profootballnetwork.com.
