Crystal Renay Has No Resentment Against Ex-Husband Ne-Yo As She Focuses on Her Children and Career: ‘I Chose Self-Esteem’
Crystal Renay has “nothing negative” to say about Ne-Yo.
According to Peoplethe star of We TV’s recently debuted show “Bold & Bougie” said she is “happy for herself” and feels blessed and grateful for God’s redirection as she enters a brand new season of life a 12 months after her divorce from the Grammy-winning artist.
“Sometimes we don’t see the bigger picture and what may or may not be good for us, and in this situation, it clearly wasn’t a place for me to stay any longer, and that doesn’t bother me,” Renay said. “I’m glad for myself because I selected my value. I made a decision to get up for myself and walk away from something that now not served me.
In July 2022, the truth star and mother of three claimed on Instagram that Ne-Yo – real name Shaffer Chimere Smith – cheated on her with multiple women during their eight-year relationship, which she claimed was filled with lies and deceit. They finalized their divorce in February 2023.
Renay is now focused on healing and prioritizing other facets of her life and has no real interest in dating.
“I realized that I needed to focus on myself, my children, my career and everything that had to do with Crystal,” she said.
Renay said she will’t wait for people to get to know her for who she really is now that “Bold & Bougie” is debuting.

“I’m a really transparent person. I’m very sweet. I actually have no in poor health will toward anyone,” Renay said, “I just hope people see Crystal for Crystal’s sake and not due to who she was with.”
Although their romantic relationship is now a thing of the past, Renay and Ne-Yo have established a solid co-parenting relationship for his or her three children: Shaffer Chimere Jr., 7, Roman Alexander-Raj, 5, and Isabella Rose, 2.
Renay praised her ex-husband for being an “amazing father”, adding that their essential goal is the well-being and happiness of their children.
Ne-Yo and his former partner Monyetta Shaw-Carter – with whom Renay maintains a powerful relationship – also share two children: Madilyn Grace, 13, and Mason Evan, 12.
“We will be bonded together forever. Our children, our siblings – who are best friends – love each other,” Renay said. “We are fine, we are a family and I appreciate the love he shows my children. I absolutely love her children and I just hope that in time the world will see that I have no ill feelings towards anyone, especially someone I consider family.”
