Being “Queen of Funk” doesn’t come without being a muse of beauty as a side concert. And Chaka Khan, who’s 72 years old today, builds the beauty archive from the day of her birth. From joining the Black Panther party as a youngster (who’s the source of her historical afro), to performances with great like Prince and Diana Ross, the story of beauty doesn’t exist with out a woman of every woman.

At the starting of the seventies, Khan, compacted electric, Bouffant Afro was how she might be identified as a singer in the Rufus band. Shot in a New York hotel room, the front woman posed with a shiny lip, which in the Nineteen Eighties, after she went Solo, praised her jer makeup and excessively prolonged cat’s eye. In the 90s, when metallic lipstick and thin eyebrows appeared, Khan leaned in a filled hair on his face and participating in the seventh annual Soul Train Awards Awards in full brow and dark eye line.

Over time, her hair was straightened, but didn’t avoid large abdomen and immersed, of which she is thought. In 2000, her hair darkened, they appear more dark purple than red, and her makeup changes cooler with neutral browns (see: VH1’s Save The Music Foundation in 2003). In 2010, she regained the heritage of the red lip, as at the seventh annual Black Women in Hollywood Essence dinner, after which went pink at the Lincoln Center fashion gala in 2018.

Now her hair is longer than wide, and the makeup is more subdued, but the brave lip still stays as a must -have funk icon. In honor of her 72nd birthday, take a look at the evolution of the beautiful Khaki Khan.
