Lil Jon is spearheading his hit “Get Low” to motivate people ages 45 and older to get colorectal cancer screening.

The platinum-selling rapper, DJ and record producer has teamed up with Exact Sciences Corp. to promote the corporate’s Cologuard cancer screening test. The initiative, called the “Get Low #2” campaign, is a nod to the musician’s 2002 hit and Cologuard is an at-home test based on stool samples.

“Sometimes you need to slow down and take care of your health,” Lil Jon said in a press release common by Pharm Exec. “Talking about some health topics could be uncomfortable, which might lead to people – especially Black men – not taking their health seriously until it’s too late.”

“I’ve reworked one of my iconic records ‘Get Low’ so that people over the age of 45 can ‘get low’ in a different way – this time with an easier method of screening for colon cancer,” he added.

The campaign with Lil Jon is a component of Exact Science’s goal to raise awareness of the importance of colorectal cancer screening among the many Black and Latino communities. Last month, the corporate partnered with Latino actor and personality Carlos Ponce to promote colon cancer screening among the many Latino community.

“For people aged 45+, it can be difficult to prioritize colorectal cancer screening, so partnering with Lil Jon provides a fresh perspective that attracts attention,” said Jeremy Truxal, vp of screening marketing at Exact Sciences. “We are committed to making screening easier with the Cologuard test – a non-invasive, effective and convenient option for eligible individuals.”

“Although colon cancer is preventable, it remains one of the least preventable forms of cancer,” noted Dr. Xavier Llor, M.D., a gastroenterologist and specialist at Yale Medicine. “Early screening and prevention efforts are critical and may impact outcomes. Screening should begin at age 45 if there isn’t any history of this cancer in your close family.

Lil Jon’s commitment to health care reflects his broader shift into wellness, including the discharge of two meditation albums, a house improvement show and campaigns promoting colon cancer screening.
