GitLab names Bill Staples as its new CEO
GitLab, a well-liked developer and security platform, has named new CEO, Bill Staples, effective immediately.
Staples, who was also appointed to the corporate’s board, replaces CEO Sid Sijbrandij, who’s battling a rare type of cancer. Sijbrandij will grow to be chairman of the management board.
“I believe (Bill’s) passion for software, commitment to customers and extensive experience make him the right person to lead the company in the future,” Sijbrandij said in a press release. “This is the right time to focus on cancer treatment and health.”
Staples was previously CEO of New Relic, a network tracking and analytics company. Prior to this role, Staples led Microsoft’s Azure application platform, where he helped incubate products such as the streaming infrastructure that when powered Azure video services and Office 365. Staples also spent several years as a vp at Adobe, leading the event of the services within the cloud and analytical tools.
