In 2001, a jury of their peers found Terence Richardson and Ferrone Claiborne not guilty of murdering a police officer in Waverly, Virginia. Fearing a lenient sentence, federal prosecutors charged and convicted the boys of a further charge of selling crack cocaine. During the sentencing phase, Judge Robert E. Payne used a legal maneuver called “He acquitted the sentence for his conduct”, which essentially allowed him to convict the boys as murderers regardless that they were acquitted of the charge.

After receiving life sentences, Richardson and Claiborne discovered that police had hidden exculpatory evidence, including a deathbed description of the killers and one other eyewitness. Neither description matches Claiborne or Richardson.

And since these are technically murders, Terence Richardson and Ferrone Claiborne each served 23 years in prison for a nonviolent drug crime.

John “Grand Master Jay” Johnson

Convicted of: I do not give a fuck.

Johnson also suffers from “rapidly deteriorating heart condition”

Marilyn Mosby

Convicted of: He steals his own money.

Former Baltimore City Attorney Marilyn Mosby is serving 12 months of house arrest and three years of federal probation for defrauding former Baltimore City Attorney Marilyn Mosby of cash that legally belonged to former Baltimore City Attorney Marilyn Mosby.

A federal jury convicted Mosby in May of two perjury counts charges after she said she was having difficulty withdrawing money from her retirement account to buy a retirement home. The prosecutor’s office also brought one charge against her mortgage fraudalleging that Mosby falsely claimed that her husband gave her $5,000 for a home loan when in actual fact the cash belonged to her. Abraham Jenkins

Convicted of: Using a fire extinguisher during a fire.

Either federal prosecutors don’t understand how fire works, or Abraham Jenkins is the worst arsonist in history.

In 2021, a judge sentenced Jenkins to 18 months in prison and three years probation after 25-year-old youth employee pleaded guilty to arson and inciting a riot during a protest in Charleston, South Carolina, in 2020. “Evidence presented in court showed that Jenkins stood on the roof of a Town of Mount Pleasant police vehicle, damaging it; twice sprayed police officers patrolling Charleston with a fire extinguisher; and threw a water bottle at a patrolling officer.” – noted the indictment. “Jenkins also took a burning T-shirt and threw it through the broken rear window of a Charleston police cruiser, causing damage to the cruiser.”

Tia Deyon Pugh

Convicted of: Helping people.

When the police used the so-called “boiling” technique. and pepper-sprayed protesters who tried to depart a demonstration in Mobile, Alabama, Tia Pugh she took matters into her own hands.

Pugh allegedly disabled the police vehicle by which protesters were trapped, allowing people to depart. But because that they had to reroute traffic on the interstate, prosecutors used an arcane law to charge Pugh with a federal crime. She was sentenced to prison but stays a convicted felon.
