NEW YORK (AP) – National Audit Committee expressed his full support “Wicked” by Jon M. Chu recognizing the lavish musical as the best film of the 12 months and Chu as the best director and awarding its stars, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grandecooperation award, in awards announced Wednesday.

“Wicked,” which has already achieved box office success, can also be embarking on an awards campaign that is anticipated to make it a number one Oscar contender. The National Board of Review, a long-running New York-based organization of film enthusiasts and students founded in 1909, has no affiliation with the movie academy. Still, the win gives “Wicked” some momentum heading into Monday’s Golden Globe nominations, where it should do well.

“Wicked represents the pure magic that movies can bring to audiences,” said Annie Schulhof, president of NBR. “Every detail is beautifully crafted and designed, all the actors are exceptional, and the music is second to none – together it creates an unforgettable experience like no other.”

The best actor ever Daniel Craig for his role in Luca Guadagnino’s adaptation of William S. Burroughs’ “Queer”. Nicole Kidman she won best actress for Halina Reijn’s “Babygirl,” by which she plays a high-ranking executive who has an affair with an intern (Harris Dickinson).

They were the winners in the supporting category Kieran Culkin for “A Real Pain” and Elle Fanning for “A Complete Unknown.”

The NBRs add to the recent series of awards handed out this week, including Gotham Awards on Monday, New York Film Critics Circle on Tuesday and Spirit Awards nominations announced on Wednesday. The NBR Awards will likely be presented at a non-televised gala on January 7 in New York, hosted by Willie Geist.
