Bishop TD Jakes announces he is ‘back’ after ‘life-threatening disaster’: ‘You’re looking at a miracle’
After a terrifying mid-sermon incident, Bishop TD Jakes “comes back” and thanks his followers for his or her unwavering support.
On Sunday, November 24, the 67-year-old Christian faith leader was speaking on stage during a live-streamed service at his congregation, The Potter’s House, in Dallas, when he suddenly lowered his head and microphone and apparently began convulsing. In a terrifying moment, Jakes was immediately surrounded by individuals who got here to his aid, before the live broadcast abruptly ended without further explanation.
A number of days later, on Wednesday at November 27, Bishop Jakes assured update via X he was accompanied by a video of himself leaving an unidentified hospital and thanking each the staff and his supporters. In his caption, the pastor again expressed his gratitude, explaining that while he didn’t suffer a stroke as some might need suspected, “this event could have ended tragically if not for God’s intervention.”
“Special thanks go to God and the doctors in our city whose speed and expertise were exceptional,” the message continued partially. “My task is to regain strength and reflect on God’s protection. I owe it to my amazing family and church members to rest and reflect as He restores me to His ministry. When God calls us to honor the Sabbath, I am reminded that rest is not a weakness – it is a divine gift.”
On Sunday, December 1, Jakes took a break from rest and virtually rejoined his congregation during his break live broadcast service.
“I told you last Sunday that I would see you this Sunday and here I am,” he said, in accordance with the web site People Magazine.
Jakes revealed this later what was previously described as a “minor health incident” on Potter’s House’s official social media accounts, she actually required surgical intervention. “Many of you don’t realize you’re looking at a miracle,” he said. “I used to be faced with a life-threatening misfortune. I used to be taken to the intensive care unit. I had emergency surgery.
While details of the health incident remain undisclosed, Jakes said the scare was particularly galling because he had recently undergone a “complete examination” and was told he was “fine.”
“The truth is that sometimes things happen and we have no control over it. And sometimes in this spiritual battle, different things happen,” he shared on Sunday. “I have not deduced the finality of all this, but I know that greater is He who is in us and He abides.”
Jakes’ daughter, the Rev. Sarah Jakes Roberts, also spoke on Sunday, appearing live before the congregation. Reflecting on her sermon through Instagram she admitted: “This Sunday was different. Heavier. More urgent. Harder.
Jakes Roberts continued: “I was strong but the reality that we almost lost my dad last week hit me. Everything I was holding came to the surface the moment I entered the sanctuary. All I could do was worship.”
“Thank you for your prayers. We need them as we navigate this new normal,” she concluded.
As for Bishop Jakes, although he noted that he was “feeling fine,” had “no pain,” and really stated that he was “back,” he also said that his doctor had advised him to be “free” since his discharge from the hospital. He will follow this recommendation by “taking a few weeks to heal, regenerate, relax and reflect.”
“It didn’t have to happen this way,” he said later. “I’m just grateful. I’m not afraid to die. I don’t want to hurt my children and the people who love me. My Church that needs me, the world that has called, God who has sent me. Sometimes you just have to be grateful.”
