Actor Sean Penn sparks controversy after making his red carpet debut with new girlfriend who is more than half his age
Actor Sean Penn, 64, made his red carpet debut with his new, much younger girlfriend on the Marrakech Film Festival.
Penn and 30-year-old actress Valeria Nicov appeared together on the second day of an event in Marrakech, Morocco on November 30, where the Oscar-winning actor accepted the Festival Star Award.
Nicov posed for photos in a strapless black dress with her hair in a bun, while Penn went on a date wearing a black suit and tie.
Before performing with Penn in Morocco’s fourth largest city, Nicov was involved in several projects reminiscent of “Paris Pigalle”, Chacun chez soi” and “Ténor”, in response to her IMDb page.
According to Page sixPenn and Nicov were photographed sharing a passionate kiss in Madrid, Spain in early September. The following month, they were seen locking lips again at Los Angeles International Airport.
In October, the couple flew to Paris, where they were seen walking through the streets of Paris as Nicov held his arm.
Penn and Nicov’s 34-year age difference became the main focus of online comments in regards to the couple’s red carpet debut in Morocco. One person the Daily Mail comments section wrote: “He looks like a grandfather with his granddaughter.”
A second person added: “Penn is an awesome actor, but he’s a extremely weird person. It was nice of him to take his daughter to the film festival.
Additionally, someone noted, “When Sean Penn was 40, his new girlfriend was 6. The more you know!”
Some described their relationship as “disgusting” and “creepy,” while others wondered, “I don’t understand why this is normal behavior.”
Several people even zoomed in on Nicov’s oversized dress, including one who asked, “Is she pregnant yet? I feel like they have not dated long enough for her to be pregnant? Or perhaps they have been dating longer than people thought. It just doesn’t add up.”
Another said: “It’s pretty obvious she’s pregnant. I ponder what she saw in him.
Penn played a teenage addict within the 1982 coming-of-age comedy “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” as Jeff Spicoli. The Malibu, California resident exchanged vows with Australian actress Leila George, 32, for the third time in 2020. However, she filed for divorce the next yr and their separation was finalized in 2022.
Fast forward to June 2023, when People and other magazines launched reporting that Penn is dating Ukrainian actress Olga Korotiaeva (44) after being spotted together in Rome.
They apparently dated for about five months before reports began to emerge about Penn being romantically involved with 40-year-old Peruvian-Australian actress Nathalie Kelley. In December 2023 TMZ posted an article about Penn’s weekend meeting with Kelley at Art Basel in South Beach Miami.
After three failed marriages, Penn he said The New York Times in June 2024: “I’m just free.”
He continued: “If I’m going to be in a relationship, I’ll still be free or I won’t be in a single and I won’t suffer. I do not feel like an affair will break my heart again.
The 2024 Marrakesh Film Festival began on November 29 and runs until December 2024. Italian actress Valeria Golino presented Penn with the Festival Star Award. Golino appeared in Penn’s directorial debut “The Indian Runner” in 1991.
