Black Voters Matter co-founder says Trump “isn’t shit” and the election is a rebuke to racism
LaTosha Brown wants undecided Black voters this election campaign to know one thing about Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump: he’s “not a sh*t.”
Brown’s voting rights group, Black Voters Matter PAC, recently used explicit language about Trump in a campaign ad geared toward cleansing up the history of his presidency.
“Did you know Trump wanted the military to actually shoot Black Lives Matter protesters?” Brown claims in the ad, which features Black Voters Matter co-founder Cliff Albright, journalist Roland Martin and others.
Albright reminds voters in the ad that Trump “let people die during Covid-19 and then made us drink bleach.”
Brown, refuting the notion that Trump sent Americans “stimulus” checks during the pandemic, adds: “He tried to block the stimulus bill and he couldn’t, so he delayed sending the money so he could put his name on the checks.”
Referring further to the economy, Martin says in the ad: “He screwed up (President Barack) Obama’s economy, lost thousands of Black jobs, caused inflation and gave his billionaire buddies a tax cut.”
Another person in the ad recalls Trump’s final days in office, when he “used the death penalty to execute black men like Brandon Bernard Keith.”
While most traditional election ads, especially those from campaigns, feature moderate language, Brown said it is important to “get straight to the point” about Trump and the threats he poses to the Black community.
“It sums up and reflects what we feel but often don’t have the space to say it, so we affirm (it),” Brown added.
While Brown expressed confidence that Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, will win the election against Trump, she wants black voters to “do our part.”
More importantly, he wants all black Americans – men, women and young people alike – to see this election as a “rebuke to racism.”
Throughout the election cycle, Trump and Republicans lobbied racist attacks against Harris and voters of color, especially immigrants. Most importantly, Harris was called a DEI worker and Trump questioned her IQ level and called her “lazy” – a historically racist slur used against Black people in America.
While there was much debate amongst black voters about “policy details” related to the economy and the Gaza Strip, Brown said, “We’re not going to play the game of actually confusing us.”
The activist maintained: “We will explain the matter clearly and remember what really happened. We will tell the truth about this.”
She added: “We’re not going to sugarcoat it anymore.”
