SZA makes her acting debut in the upcoming comedy alongside Keke Palmer, Katt Williams and more

Keke Palmer and SZA will star in the upcoming Sony Pictures film “One of Them” This week, the media company released the official trailer for the buddy comedy, which is scheduled to premiere early next 12 months. Centered around best friends and roommates Dreux (played by Palmer) and Alyssa (played by SZA), the film sees the duo attempting to get rent money before they’re evicted.

“Best friends and roommates Dreux (Keke Palmer) and Alyssa (SZA) are about to have one of those days,” the synopsis reads, in accordance with Diversity. “When they discover that Alyssa’s boyfriend has blown their rent money, the duo go to extremes in a comical race against time to avoid eviction and keep their friendship intact.”

In the movie “One of Them Days” you may see how much effort Palmer and SZA’s characters undergo to lift money. Several other Black stars also appear in the film, including Katt Williams, Lil Rel Howery, and Janelle James.

The film not only showcases quite a lot of black talent in its scenes, but in addition showcases black talent behind the scenes. In addition to starring in the film, Palmer and her mother Sharon are executive producers of the film, alongside Issa Rae. For the project, Rae brought on director Lawrence Lamont and author Syreeta Singleton, with whom she worked on Max’s canceled series “Rap Sh!t.”

“One of Them Days” is the official acting debut of Grammy-winning singer SZA. However, she is not any stranger to Hollywood; in 2020, she appeared on an episode of Rae’s hit show “Insecure.” Additionally, her song “All the Stars”, written in collaboration with Kendrick Lamar, which became the basis of the soundtrack to “Black Panther” in 2018, received an Oscar nomination.

Earlier this 12 months, SZA announced that she planned to take a break from performing on Xsaying that he “finally wants to get (his) life back on track.”

“One of Them Days” will premiere in theaters on January 24.
