Concerns mount after Pastor Marvin Winans suffered a shocking health shock and collapsed during months of Bible study following a cancer update
Months after Bishop Marvin Winans told his Perfecting Home Church that he was cancer-free, the “Worthy is the Lamb Slain” singer was captured on video passing out during a service at a church in suburban Los Angeles.
The clip immediately went viral, and saints from everywhere in the world are actually sending their prayers, hoping that nothing serious happened to the pastor.
In 1:13 seconds videoWinans, wearing a blue suit against the backdrop of the sanctuary’s flowers, seemed to be struggling. His shoulders were slumped from the start, and during the Bible study on Wednesday, October 16, he spoke with short breaths and short phrases.
“He comes to make us feel as if God had somehow abandoned us. As if he was somehow unable to keep his word,” he said, looking remarkably stable.

Continuing, Winans added, “And if God can’t keep his word, I understand depression. I understand why we give up. But if we trust… hallelujah… hallelujah… if we trust what God has said and believe…” Before ending his sentence, Winans collapsed, prompting several men within the church to rush to his aid.
The incident sparked concern on social media.
“Bishop Marvin Winans doesn’t look good and had trouble preaching‼️ Saints, we must bomb Haven in his name‼️” one user X he tweeted.
When the video appeared on TikTok, believers flooded the comments, leaving them immersed in prayer the news akin to, “Father God, help him” and “May God meet his servant where he is now and touch his body.”
Fortunately, Bishop Winans addressed the situation during a live broadcast on Friday, October 18, assuring his followers that he was OK.
“Hello, I’m Pastor Marvin Winans and I wanted to come live. (…) I will say that I appreciate all the prayers and support. …On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, an unexplained episode happened to me. … The doctor thinks it might have been dehydration, but my heart is in good shape, my vitals are fine and I’m in good shape,” Winans said.
He continued: “We often work too much and that seems to have been the problem. There are no residues or long-term effects, but I wanted to keep in touch with you all.”
He added with confidence, “God – hallelujah – has been a healer in my life and I hope he will be here for a long time. Thank you for your prayers. Continue to pray that we will be all that God has called us to be, and I know that together we will achieve that goal.”
According to the church’s Instagram sideWinans taught from the book of Proverbs. Comments promoting the hybrid Bible study noted that it was “awesome,” not to say the fainting incident.
Perhaps the members of his church and those that had followed the preacher’s ministry for years were mainly concerned that he had had some health problems for a while and was now a cancer survivor.
Six-time Grammy Award winner revealed during the Sunday service on July 21, 2024, that he was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2022, but managed to beat it.
Initially, he admitted that he had difficulty accepting the doctor’s prognosis.
Ultimately, nonetheless, he followed the doctor’s advice and took several doses of Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG), Vaccine-based immunotherapy commonly used to treat early stage bladder cancer. He shared that he received this treatment for six weeks, after which he underwent cystoscopy.
He began treatment in March 2024, but after the service, he described experiencing a true miracle.
“The first time they may see it… but this time after they went in, the doctor said, ‘OK… there’s nothing there.’ Do not doubt anything and trust in what God is doing amongst us!” – he said during the sermon.
This testimony brought his congregation to their feet, cheering and praising God. When a clip of the sermon was later posted on Instagram, many of his 315,000 followers expressed their gratitude and joy.
His recent recovery is one other testament to his unwavering faith and that God continues to work in his life.
