Meta is reportedly firing employees over alleged meal fraud

Twenty employees at Meta’s Los Angeles office were fired for allegedly using company meal credits for groceries, CNN reports.

During the course of its investigation, Meta found that employees violated company policy through the use of meal vouchers for household and private care items, which is contrary to company policy. It is also against company policy to transfer vouchers from the unique worker.

According to CNN Meta provides food stamps to employees in offices where meals usually are not available – breakfast ($20) and lunch and dinner ($25), so that they can get meals delivered to work where work hours might be difficult and downtime is sparse . This was the case within the Los Angeles office.

However, through an internal investigation, Meta learned that some people used the vouchers to deliver food to their homes or purchase non-food items, a source told CNN. The first information in regards to the shooting was reported by, amongst others, .

Business expert reports that Meta employees typically earn between $100,000 and $400,000.

News of the layoffs got here as the corporate began major layoffs across all of its platforms, including Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook and Reality Labs.

“Today, several teams at Meta are making changes to ensure resources are aligned with their long-term strategic goals and localization strategy,” Meta spokeswoman Tracy Clayton said in a press release. “This includes relocating some teams to other locations and reassigning some employees to other roles. In situations like this, where a position is eliminated, we work hard to find other opportunities for affected employees.”

It is unclear whether the laid-off staff will receive severance pay.
