Flavor Flav is celebrating 4 years of sobriety by offering fans free subscriptions to the therapy app

Flavor Flav took to social media to announce an upcoming milestone in his sobriety journey. In honor of World Mental Health Day on October 10, the 65-year-old rapper posted a heartwarming video on Instagram to have fun the indisputable fact that he’ll soon reach 4 years of sobriety.

Flav he explained that maintaining mental health is a big part of his success and that he wants to give back to the field that has contributed a lot to improving his health, he says.

In the caption of his post, he continued to write, “I’m talking to a therapist. I actually talked to two. I have a crazy schedule and travel. My manager recommended that I try Sonia, an AI therapist who was there for me, as Janet Jackson says, “Anytime, Anywhere.”

In his video, he praised Sonia, an AI Therapy app, for the positive impact it has had on his life despite his extremely busy schedule. Flav, born William Jonathan Drayton Jr., told his fans he’s ready to give back to others who’re also starting their mental health journey by bringing “a little more happiness to the world.”

On October 19, Flav may have been sober for 4 years, and he has been open about his long road to sobriety for several years.

In January 2023, the “Flavor of Love” reality star sat down with the “Off the Record with DJ Akademiks” podcast and he reminded his fight against addiction. He admitted that the majority people were completely unaware of what was happening to him at the height of his struggles.

The rapper and reality star said he had been addicted to cocaine, crack, pot, alcohol and cigarettes for nearly twenty years, “for 18 years straight,” he said. At the height of his addiction, he spent almost $5.5 million on drugs over six years, and he spent significantly more cash over 18 years.

“There was a time when I was spending $2,400 to $2,600 a day… six years in a row you count it,” he said on the podcast. “I spent so much on drugs.”

In the podcast, he also spoke truthfully about his other practices. He admitted that he sold drugs and at one point he broke the most vital rule of the trade and got high on his own supply.

Despite this, Flav explained that he all the time “behaved very well and hid it.”

Fortunately, the rapper was able to quit smoking in 2020 and start long-term sobriety. Flavor Flav said he can finally open up about his struggles with substance abuse because he is completely clean. Celebrating being free from cocaine and crack for over 15 years and being alcohol-free for 4 years.

He then said, “I suppose God wanted me to live. And he knows that I’m the spokesman for the world. So I feel like God allowed me to experience this in order that I could teach people about the mistakes I made. And hopefully they will not do it later in life.
