LeBron and Savannah James express gratitude for son Bronny’s recovery

LeBron and Savannah James are understandably emotional on the considered their son Bronny’s health concerns. IN New Netflix documentary series “Starting 5” The NBA champion and his wife reflect on the moment their son suffered a cardiac arrest during basketball practice on the University of Southern California.

“I think ultimately it was just about us supporting each other and just being extremely grateful for the outcome,” Savannah says within the premiere episode of the series.

“Say hello to the man up there,” LeBron added. “And all the coaching staff, the coaching staff, the participants in this program.”

The documentary then shows the Lakers star and his mother, Gloria James, visiting the USC facility where Bronny was first treated. After meeting with the university staff who helped his son, James was especially moved to fulfill Erin, the primary aider who performed CPR on his son.

Calling her a “lifesaver,” the NBA champion explained that Erin and the medical staff “are the reason Bronny is alive, smiling, thriving and doing what every 19-year-old should do, which is living his dream.”

Bronny has since joined his father on the Los Angeles Lakers, making them the primary father and son to play together on any NBA team. Although LeBron has dreamed of this moment since his son entered highschool, LeBron admitted that Bronny’s heart condition modified his perspective.

“You thought, wow, it could have been, you know, a lot worse for our family,” he said, reflecting on the situation.

Through all of it, James made it clear that his son’s essential priority was to return to court.

“It’s crazy for kids to love something and want something,” he added. “That’s all that matters to them. As a parent you say, “You had a cardiac arrest, like…” and in (Bronny’s) mind he’s asking, “Can I play football again, can I play football again – and if the answer is yes, when can I play again?” football?”

Admiring his son’s dedication to the game, James says he loves watching his son fall in love with the identical game he loves and, most significantly, seeing “where (Bronny) was when he was a young man.”
