Dog whisperer Cesar Millan reveals how he ended Oprah Winfrey’s 11-year dog feud and revealed her secret struggles as a pet owner

He explained: “She had maximum security in her home… because there was separation between the cocker spaniel (Sophie) and the golden retriever (Luke). It was 11 years of bad habit that we managed to alter.
Oprah’s bond with Sophie was especially deep.
In 2011, she shared: “One of my best teachers was my dog, Sophie. Sophie lived for 13 years and got here to work with me on daily basis. She was at every concert, backstage on the Oscars and Emmys, and even waited within the automobile once I went to the gynecologist.
“Stedman said she had an inferiority complex, but I don’t think so. She was so attached to me that if I left her in the hotel room for even five minutes, I would walk down the hall and she would start howling,” she said, then continued: “She had this separation anxiety where if she wasn’t around me, she would howl like a wolf. Many times I believed I could be thrown out of hotels. But I even have a deep love and affection for my little Sophie.”
Oprah added: “It was only after she died that I truly understood the depth of my love for her. (…) When I lost her, I realized that no one in the world had ever loved me like that little dog.”

Ironically, the OWN founder was never allowed to have a dog as a child, which made her love for them even stronger. Millan’s help with Sophie and Luke was a gift, and she returned the favor by inviting him to her Emmy-winning show.
Apart from crediting Oprah as considered one of the celebs who helped boost his profession, the Mexico native also revealed that actor Jada Pinkett Smith played a key role in his success.
In an interview on “The Adam Carolla Show” this summer, Millan recounted how within the Nineties, Pinkett Smith saw him working with a Rottweiler and said, “When I get a dog, I want you to train mine.”
She kept her word and contacted him a few months later.
Millan added: “I said I desired to host my very own TV or radio show to show people. But she said, “For this you need to speak English,” and paid a teacher to assist me learn English for a 12 months.
This experience allowed him to host “The Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan” on the National Geographic Channel, as well as work with stars such as Queen Latifah, Vin Diesel and Nicholas Cage.
