Halle Berry fans are wondering what is going on on with the previous pageant queen after she surprised her Instagram followers by showing off a somewhat “stasty” latest look.

On a recent Instagram postthe Oscar winner appeared without makeup, with disheveled hair and one other shocking body feature: armpit hair.

Her 8.9 million followers immediately flooded the comments, expressing a mixture of shock, amusement and confusion at her Saturday, September 28 post.

Some questioned whether there was something flawed with the “Boomerang” star, long considered one of Hollywood’s most beautiful women.

“Ewwww,” one person wrote, while one other asked: “Why did Halle Berry cuddle up to the armpit of a marsupial???”

Still, there have been plenty of jokes, with one person writing: “Looks such as you kept Don King locked up. Hallleee, I’m screaming,” while others gave her nicknames such as “Halle Hairy” and “Hairy Berry.”

Despite the teasing, some supporters liked it. “Even with all this armpit hair you’re still (fire emoji),” someone commented.

“Oh my god please get rid of it,” one other follower wrote, before Berry replied, “It’s already gone,” with a laughing emoji.

However, these same fans apparently didn’t read Berry’s caption before reacting. In the post, she explained: “Mom in the making (movie emoji). One of the most complex characters I have ever had the pleasure of portraying. #NeverLetGo can be seen in cinemas everywhere!”

Berry plays Mom in the brand new horror film “Never Let Go” directed by Alexandre Aja. In a carousel of photos, the 58-year-old actress shows off her fake armpit hair in a video and a mirror selfie. One of the videos within the series shows the crew clapping as Berry celebrates a successful film shoot.

Then there are some highly stylized photos, like one of her with a blonde wig and a denim top, and the last one shows Berry topless posing for a mirror selfie.

Some fans who had already seen the film praised her performance, and a few even suggested that her role was worthy of an Oscar. They also praised makeup artist Norma Patton-Lowin for her amazing work on Berry’s transformation.

“There’s a whole forest there, lol! Great job of the makeup artist! Well done Halle for the whole role!” wrote one fan.

Another said: “Wow, what actors do to fulfill their roles. For a moment I thought a jungle had begun to grow under my arms in Halle. So funny, LOL!!!”

In the primary clip, Berry jokes with Patton-Lowin and asks her, “What’s occurring here, Norma? What did you do? What were you doing there, Norma? They each laugh while talking concerning the transformation.

Patton-Lowin joined other fans in commenting on the post, writing, “Thank you Halle for allowing me to push you to the limits of your character! I had a great time working with you to create Mommy (heart and prayer hand emoji).”

While the makeup was so convincing that many individuals believed Berry’s armpit hair was real, this is not the primary time fans have jumped to conclusions concerning the Catwoman star. Two days before her birthday on August 14, many individuals commented on Berry’s red carpet outfit for her other latest movie titled “Union.”

The mother of two wore a black dress with a deep neckline and long sleeves, made of mesh and lace. Many people felt that she dressed inappropriately for her age and commented that she might need trouble getting older and finding the balance between being sexy and mature.

While Berry wasn’t going through a mid-life crisis as some had wondered, the extreme role appeared to be pushing her limits.

Back in April, Berry talked about “Never let go” at CinemaCon, revealing that she needed to show “method acting” to arrange for the role, and it was intense. Her character, she said, “eaten worms and frogs – raw frogs – in the forest.”

“I had to really skin the squirrel,” she said. According to to People. “Those things were a huge challenge for me to create a reality in this world that felt alien to me.”

PETA later clarified that no real animals were harmed, noting that “movie magic” was used to create the look. It looks like the identical magic was behind the hairy armpits of her Instagram post.

“While viewers may squirm in their seats at the sight of a skinned ‘squirrel,’ Alexandre Aja’s use of movie magic rather than thinking and feeling in ‘Never Let Go’ proves once again that technology is the key to the modern , humane filmmaking,” reads a statement from Lauren Thomasson, PETA’s director of animals in film and tv.
