Amazon to hold Prime Big Deals Day sales event on October 8 and 9

Amazon today announced it is going to hold a Prime Day-like sales event, “Prime Big Deals Day,” on Oct. 8-9. For the past two years, the e-commerce company has scheduled its fall event in October and is constant that tradition this yr.

In addition to the United States, the event will happen in countries reminiscent of Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and Turkey. Prime members may have a deal every five minutes through the event, the corporate said. It also has a vacation gift guide. Earlier this yr, Amazon rolled out its AI shopping assistant Rufus to all users within the U.S. And it hopes more shoppers will make the most of it.

Amazon’s Prime Day in July was a hit, analysts say, with a record $14.2 billion in sales. Adobe noted that 49.3% of sales were initiated from a phone relatively than other devices. The company noted that mobile shopping will drive 53% of online sales through the holiday season this yr.

Amazon’s U.S. e-commerce sales are expected to total $491.65 billion in 2024 — up 10.5% from last yr, according to analytics firm Emarketer. The data also suggests Amazon stays the country’s largest e-commerce retailer, with a 40.4% market share.
