After spending greater than 20 years together, Kirk and Rasheeda Frost are the longest-married couple on the “Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta” franchise. The pair, celebrating their twenty sixth wedding anniversary in a number of months, were once seen as destination couples.

But the constant drama and infidelity that has come over the years in their marriage is what has left fans unconvinced of their love. Nevertheless — for those willing to listen — the couple still has some advice to share on the right way to achieve longevity in marriage.

In a post from Saturday, September 14, where they spoke with The Shade Room at the VMA Awards, Kirk says “The secret is that you have to understand that you are going to have to face a lot of criticism from people who are going to tell you how you should act in a relationship.”

Rasheeda, who’s standing next to Kirk, nods in agreement before continuing, “I don’t think people understand that Rasheeda and I have been married for 25 years. You know, we’re best friends first, we’re friends first and foremost, and, you know, we can talk about a lot of things, but you have to have a friendship and you have to understand that not everything is going to be perfect.”

The father of seven was incessantly targeted online as one of the villains in the series “LHH: ATL” for his past betrayals, just like the “Creep Squad” in the series “LHH: NY.”

“I get hit a lot, but that’s just the way it is,” Kirk said in his latest statement on the matter.

The highlighted history between him and his wife involved Kirk’s many adulterous moments, which led to his child with one other woman named Jasmine Bleu. But the “Marry Me” artist has stuck by her man, even when it comes with quite a bit of scrutiny.

Pointing out what sustains their love, Rasheeda he said“I hate to even say it because people just talk so much shit, but it’s about communication and we really like understand each other. Because over time, just because you’re married to someone doesn’t mean you really know them the way you should, or understand them the way you should.”

The “Marry Me” rapper added, “I think for us, because we’ve been together for so long, you know you evolve and you change in life as you get older. So understanding each other and being open to that. And most of all,” she reiterates, “really communicating with each other and just being real with each other” is essential.

In response to the video, fans criticized the couple for their advice, with one person writing that the secret is, “Accept their betrayal, lies, and outside child” and “Kirk cheats and Rasheeda forgives.”

“The way he lies and cheats shows how well you communicate and understand each other,” a 3rd person said in response to Rasheeda’s description of their communication style.

A fourth viewer said: “I watched with the sound turned off because I don’t want to hear what people are saying about marriage.”

Others who took to the message said, “What can we say? Rasheeda seems happy. She’s a successful business owner and doesn’t seem submissive. For some reason… she and Kirk are good. I’ve come to a point of acceptance,” while one other simply wrote, “this isn’t bad advice.”

It’s hard to recollect a time when Kirk and Rasheeda’s marriage was ever celebrated, as their infidelity issues began over a decade ago. One of the earliest and most chaotic moments on the show for Kirk was in 2013, when he went on cabin tour with the Benzino star after an argument with then-pregnant Rasheeda. She was pregnant with their second child at the time and Kirk expressed that he wanted her to have an abortion.

As a result of the argument, Kirk believed he had a “pass” and approached one of the randomly invited women in the jacuzzi.

From that time on, Kirk began to lose some fans, but the shocking announcement in 2016 that he had a child with one other woman was the real nail in the coffin of his fame.

Many thought it was over when Rasheeda dramatically took off her wedding ring on the show. This season, Kirk was criticized by Jasmine, the mother of his child, who was a stripper once they met. She scolded him for being an inactive parent to their 8-year-old son. In addition, in more moderen episodes, she accuses Kirk of still attempting to sleep along with her.

New episodes of “LHH: ATL” air every Tuesday on MTV at 8:00 p.m.
