Oprah Winfrey to Host Free Livestream of “Unite For America”
Voters across the country will come together on September 19 for Unite for America, a free, livestreamed event hosted by Oprah Winfrey and Win with Black Women to support Vice President Kamala Harris as she continues her bid for president.
According to a press release, the live broadcast is a call to motion that unite over 140 grassroots Win Against Harris groups to discuss Harris support, voting and community engagement ahead of the Nov. 5 presidential election. More than 400 local voters will receive an invite from Winfrey to attend the discussion in person.
“This ‘Unite for America’ rallying cry will be a powerful moment that showcases the urgency we all feel in this moment and, more importantly, the impact our collective activism will have moving our country forward with Vice President Kamala Harris as our 47th president,” said Jatoka Eaddy, founder of Win with Black Women.
The online event follows a large virtual event hosted by Win with Black Women in July that brought together 90,000 Black women from across the country to support Vice President Harris after she announced her presidential run. As previously mentioned BLACK ENTREPRENEURSHIPThe campaign, which has been endorsed by high-profile women like Jenifer Lewis, Andra Day, Pinky Cole and Danielle Brooks, has raised $1.5 million ahead of the 2024 Democratic National Convention. The upcoming call will unite grassroots groups like Win with Black Men, Comics for Kamala, Republicans for Harris and White Dudes for Harris, who then held their very own Zoom calls.
So far, greater than $20 million has been raised for the Harris-Walz campaign, and Winfrey and Eaddy plan to bring all of the groups together directly before Election Day.
“The diversity of groups represented at this rally – from Oprah Winfrey, Win With Black Women, Win With Black Men to groups like White Dudes for Harris and Swifties for Kamala – is empowering to the movement,” said Khalil Thompson of Win With Black Men, a partner organization of Win With Black Women, which TO BE As mentioned, a rally held earlier this 12 months raised over $1.3 million from over 17,000 donors.
White Women: Answer the Call organizer Shannon Watts said, “There is no better person than Oprah Winfrey to lead this event.” Pastor Mike McBride of Win With the Black Church said the upcoming rally “represents a rebirth of joy, hope and optimism.”
