Christian Siriano’s SS25 NYFW Show Delivered Dark Fairy Princess Beauty – Essence

Christian Siriano’s models channeled dark fairies in an enchanted garden during NYFW’s SS25 show. The designer teamed up with a star hairstylist to bring that vision to life Lace Redway and the star of make-up Vincent Oquenda for smokey eye makeup and slicked-back hair that complement plush silhouettes.

“We’re doing a wave of pixie dust,” Redway tells ESSENCE. “I want to keep it a little light in the hair and just sprinkle some prairie dust all over the place.” The celebrity hairstylist used TRESemmé Mega Control Hair Gel which she calls her “hero” relating to hair appearance. She also used TRESemmé Heat Protection Spray AND TRESemmé Extra Hold Hair MousseThe overall look was Y2K-esque with its side partings.

What concerning the Redway technique? She separated some hair within the front right into a diagonal part. Then she dried her hair with a blow-dryer. “Once the hair is smooth, we also dry it behind the ears.” For the magic dust effect, she added mega control gel and glitter to the hair.

Oquendo called the look “a moonlit smoke show.” He leaned into the ’20s-inspired take care of noticing Redway’s gorgeous, finger-wavy hairdo. “Fairies are beautiful, fierce creatures,” Oquendo says. “You can see a lot of depth, a lot of blending, but it’s those 20 shades. So we layered on top of layered.”

Oquendo desired to create a “dangerous, beautiful” search for the attention. He used 4 different eyeliners. He began with a black eyeliner on the waterline. “I do a pointed line on the inner eyelid, then I bring it down and go straight to the outer eyelid.” He warmed it up together with his fingertips before pressing the concealer into the skin. He finished with powder. “It’s all about layers on layers.”

Oquendo also shared his pro tip for doing the take a look at home. “If you have to do one eye at a time, you don’t have a lot of time before it sets,” says Oquendo. “Put on some powder and set it for a really strong effect—almost like jewelry.”

“So we did this, we did this copper, we did a few layers of this. And then inside we have silver. And we wet the silver with a precision brush. We just used a mist of water, wet it and just laid it down. And that’s it.”
