Apple May Get Rid of Old, Familiar USB-A Ports on New Mac Mini
Mac mini will probably be the following Apple device to say goodbye to USB-A, based on Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.
Apple customers have probably turn out to be accustomed to seeing the familiar rectangular USB-A ports replaced by their thinner USB-C equivalents. And while USB-C has its benefits, the transition to this standard can sometimes cause confusion for users and the necessity to look for suitable adapters.
Meanwhile, the Mac mini hasn’t had a major redesign since 2010, but Gurman says that is changing this fall. The updated models will feature Apple’s latest M4 chip, in addition to five USB-C ports, plus an Ethernet port, HDMI connector, and headphone jack. But the USB-A ports will probably be gone.
Apple has scheduled a “Glowtime” press conference on September 9 where the corporate is anticipated to announce the brand new iPhone 16 model. The latest Mac lineup is probably not announced until late fall.
