Ashley Maclin, also referred to as ASHMAC, is a media personality and Norfolk State University graduate. In this episode of “Life Hacks with Liana,” Maclin shares her experiences at an HBCU and offers suggestions to help HBCU students navigate their freshman 12 months.

Maclin shared just a few gems that first-year students should remember.

“Don’t be too happy trying to spend money when you have a debit or credit card; use it literally for emergencies,” she said.

“Save the money that’s also on your Spartan card, that’s what we call our student IDs at (Norfolk State University). Use them because you might have an emergency where you actually need that money.”
