Capcom Updates ‘Resident Evil 4,’ ‘Resident Evil Village,’ and ‘Resident Evil 7’ on iOS with Online DRM

Usually updates for premium mobile ports are good for optimization or compatibility reasons, but Capcom’s latest update released an hour ago for (Free), Remake (Free), and (Free) on iOS and iPadOS adds online DRM that checks your purchase history once you start the games. It checks in the event you own the sport or DLC, then takes you to the title screen. If you click no, the sport will close. If you might have a web connection, it is going to take a number of seconds before you’ll be able to return to your save, but you’ll be able to’t launch any of those three games and play them offline. You’ll should be online to envision your purchase once you start the sport. This is unlucky and, frankly, awful, because all games at the moment are at a drawback with online DRM in comparison with once they were playable and playable offline before.

I tested this on all three games before they were updated and verified that they launched and worked offline for the reason that update before today. After today’s update, you see the above alert or similar, and clicking it doesn’t close the sport. If that does not matter to you, that is nice, but I’m not a fan of online DRM like this being patched right into a game that folks have already paid for. I hope Capcom finds a greater solution for checking purchases or does it occasionally as a substitute of each time they launch. Things like this make it hard to recommend Capcom ports at premium prices. If you haven’t got the games yet, you’ll be able to try them out at no cost on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, Here. Check out the Remake Here within the App Store and Here. Read my reviews here , here , and here . Do you own the three modern games on iOS and what do you’re thinking that of this update for all three?
