Common and Jennifer Hudson breakup rumors resurface weeks after he described the singer as a potential ‘champion lover’

The second night of the Democratic National Convention took place on August 20 and it was an brisk, star-studded event with Common and others in attendance. But it was the ones who were conspicuously absent from the convention that piqued some people’s curiosity.

The convention was held in Chicago, the hometown of speakers Barack and Michelle Obama, Common and his girlfriend Jennifer Hudson. The entertainment duo was spotted in the Windy City nearly two years ago, leading fans to take a position they were dating. The couple coyly confirmed their relationship in January 2024, once they appeared on Hudson’s daytime talk show.

But without the EGOT winner by his side at the political rally, at the least one fan wondered if Hudson’s absence was a sign of a change in things between the two. “So did Jennifer Hudson and Common break up????” he tweeted A Twitter user noticed that the bachelor didn’t have the “Dream Girls” star with him.

In the past, the couple’s solo trips have led to suspicions of a breakup.

Common performed his 2004 hit “Fortunate” with gospel artist Johnathan McReynolds. Before Common took the stage, it was rumored that Hudson could be his special guest. Fan reviews romance he wrote that “it seems like a big deal. He keeps talking about how special she is,” while also making a suggestion for the powerful vocalist to look.

When the opposite happened, it was a disappointment for some. tweet read: “I wish Common and Jennifer Hudson would perform together.”

Although, with two days left in the convention, all is just not lost for viewers who’re hoping Hudson will perform. “I hope JHud performs one day, especially since it’s Chicago” he tweeted one in every of her supporters.

The “Aretha” star and her beau last performed together in July, when she joined him on stage during a concert in Philadelphia to sing the chorus of “Glory,” the Oscar-winning song featuring John Legend.

When Common and hip-hop veteran Pete Rock released their collaborative album, “The Auditorium, Vol. 1,” in July, Hudson was amongst the guests, acting on the album’s titled “A GOD (There Is).”

He gushes about his principal partner and the song’s lyrics, the “Used to Love Her” rapper said People“I’m in a great relationship and, man, (Jennifer) is someone I really care about and love and grow with. The potential of ‘master lover’ means, ‘Hey, you’re the one.’ I can feel it. That’s a lot of potential, I’ll say that.”

Speculation that the serial bachelor could possibly be approaching a proposal is rampant, as the pair have been spotted at basketball games and more. Their last confirmed date was in early August.

Hudson posted a photo on X showing her, Common, and musicians Keyon Harold and PJ together in the studio.

She captioned the post, “When it’s good, it’s good. Such a great connection. Such an honor to work with Chicago legend @common and these guys @keyonharrold and @justpeej. You can always find me wherever the music is. Music is my home and so is Chicago! And there’s no place like home. I love music and I love my Chicago!”

Despite missing the second night of the convention, Hudson confirmed she was on the town ahead of the DNC. In an August 21 Instagram post, the “Dream Girls” star revealed she was filming an episode of “The Stephen Colbert Show.”

Four days earlier, she announced she would return to Chicago wearing a Cubs baseball cap.
