Minor Jumps Out of Plane, Criticizes American Airlines for Forcing Him to Give Up First Class Seat
American Airlines could have just lost a high-profile customer following a disturbing incident involving Cash Money Records artist Juvenile. The rapper was reportedly asked to move from his first-class seat to economy class — with none explanation — which immediately sparked a powerful backlash from the star and his fans.
The request so enraged the previous Hot Boy that he immediately gathered his belongings and left the plane, documenting all the event on his Instagram live and assuring them that they messed with that one person.
The flight attendants didn’t provide a direct reason for the downgrade, leaving Juvenile and his wife in suspense.
Worse still, this request was addressed solely to him and never his wife.
“Man, they’re trying to throw me off the plane,” Juvenile said, as his wife tried to reason with the flight attendant. “They’re trying to throw me out of first class.”
When his wife asked, “Where do you want to put him?” one other worker replied, “We’ll put him in economy class.”
The rapper firmly replied: “You won’t hand me over to any coach… that’s never happened to me in my life.”
Ms. Juvie, who can be the rapper’s manager, emphasized: “These are our seats. It says 1A and 1C.”
The footage shows Juvenile — whose real name is Terius Gray — expressing his frustration to the crew. He refused to move, saying: “I’m a celebrity. I’m telling you this is going to have consequences and I’m going to get off the plane. I’m not going to let you disrespect me like that.”
The 48-year-old rapper didn’t hold back, continuing: “I’m not going to let you pick me out of all the people on the plane and disrespect me. So I’m going to get off the plane.”
He then stood up, gathered his things and encouraged his wife to go along with him.
“S—t kind of funny to me, I won’t lie,” Juvenile remarked as he stepped off the plane. “Out of all the people on the plane, you pick a celebrity.”
After posting the clip on Instagram, his million followers reacted quickly. Comments poured in, with one person saying: “Oh no, not American again.”
Another noted: “Flying black shouldn’t be this stressful.”
A 3rd comment read: “A third person said, “American Airlines has been treating black people really badly lately,” and one other said, “Cousins… Can we all agree to STOP FLYING AMERICAN AIRLINES??!!!”
Many fans cheered on his wife as she stood on her toes to defend her man.
“His wife is in business,” one fan commented, while one other added: “How important it is that the wife is black.”
Adding: “She knows her husband and she knows he probably wouldn’t have done that. It could have gone completely left if she hadn’t done what she did.”
In a follow-up post, Juvenile shared a screenshot of his iPhone wallet, showcasing his extensive first-class flight history.
“Speaking of first class… I think I know a thing or two about first class,” he said, searching through the tickets.
He ended with the pointed remark: “Fuck American Airlines. … All the money I spent with you, bitch. I feel cheated.”
The incident follows an identical situation involving one other legendary rapper, Sandra “Pepa” Denton of Salt-N-Pepa, who was recently asked to get off a Southwest flight due to a seating dispute she believed was racially motivated.
American Airlines responded to Juvenile’s post: saying“We never want you to feel that way when traveling with us. Please send us your confirmation code so we can take a closer look at what happened.”
The airline also issued statement to TMZ, apologizing for the incident. “American Airlines strives to provide a positive experience for every traveler and we apologize for (Juvenile’s) recent experience with us. An unplanned aircraft type change affected his seat assignment and we regret that he was not notified prior to boarding. A member of our team spoke with (Juvenile) personally to resolve the situation.”
Despite the incident, Juvenile managed to catch a flight on one other airline and arrive at his performance in Fort Worth late that evening.
