The body of a 38-year-old British woman who died during plastic surgery in Turkey has reportedly been returned home with parts of several vital organs missing.

Kaydell Brown died on March 26 on the operating table on the Expert Clinic in Istanbul.

She paid £5,400 to travel to Istanbul for the “mummy MOT”, a full-service operation that included a Brazilian butt lift, tummy tuck and breast augmentation all in in the future.

Brown’s sister, Leanne, travelled with her sister to support her through the surgery.

She recounted the precise moment Kaydell entered the clinic after which the harrowing moments she experienced several hours later when the surgeons emerged from the operating room to inform her in regards to the complications that had occurred through the procedures.

“She went into surgery at about 9:30 this morning and that was the last time I saw her,” Leanne Brown said. he said ITV. “They took me right into a room they usually just began attempting to say, you realize, there are complications from the operation, you realize, all forms of things can occur. And I said, ‘Did my sister die?’ And he just said, ‘I’m sorry, but yes.’

Leanne said she did not have much time to process the shocking and unexpected news as clinic staff handed her an envelope filled with money and a one-way plane ticket home.

“They just gave me an envelope and said, ‘Here’s your money back, and here’s your sister’s money back. And here’s your flight. It’s like saying, ‘I’m sorry I’m dead, here’s your plane ticket,'” Leanne said.

Leanne said her grief and distrust were compounded by the clinic’s refusal to release Kaydell’s body. When Kaydell’s body was finally returned to the UK, the coroner discovered it was missing large parts of her brain, lungs and heart, her sister said.

“When they returned her body, they kept bits of her heart and intestines, which could indicate cause of death, but we may not know that because they’re not very cooperative,” Leanne noted.

The clinic has denied all accusations that it harvested and stored organs before handing Kaydell’s body over to the coroners office in Turkey.

“There was no evidence of organ trauma. We have handed the body intact to the coroner’s office (in Turkey),” the clinic told ITV. “It is highly likely that body parts were removed while trying to determine the cause of death.”

The office sent the family a death certificate that didn’t provide a explanation for death, but later insisted that the explanation for death was post-surgery complications and never medical malpractice.

“The internal investigation found no evidence of malpractice, and Kaydell’s cause of death was likely a blockage of a blood vessel by fat, which can happen during this type of surgery,” the clinic said in an announcement.

A spokesman for the clinic said that over the past 13 years, surgeons have performed greater than 23,000 plastic surgeries on patients from Turkey and other countries, and only two have resulted in death.

More than one million people travel to Turkey for medical procedures annually, including 150,000 British residents. According to the Foreign Office, 28 British residents have died in Turkey since 2019 from complications following cosmetic surgery.

“The UK Government is actively working with the Turkish Government to support the safety of patients who decide to travel to Turkey for treatment,” a government spokesman said. “We would urge anyone considering cosmetic surgery abroad to research the type of procedure, the qualifications of their doctor and the laws in the country they are travelling to.”

Brown said Kaydell had just celebrated her thirty eighth birthday and had invested in cosmetic procedures to heal after going through a difficult period over the past few years. She was the mother of two boys, ages 12 and 16.

The family continues to be waiting for information from Turkish authorities regarding the explanation for Kaydell’s death.
