Kerry Washington, Tony Goldwyn Among Hosts at 2024 Democratic Convention
Kerry Washington heads to Chicago this week for the Democratic National Convention.
The 47-year-old actress will host the convention alongside her former “Scandal” co-star Tony Goldwyn, actress Mindy Kaling and “The View” host Ana Navarro. CNN reported Sunday night. The DNC hosting gig is comparable to that of an awards show host, based on convention organizers. Each celebrity will host one night of the four-day convention, where they’ll kick off the published with a gap monologue and share remarks throughout the evening.
Thursday’s host will likely be Washington, the night Vice President Kamala Harris will formally accept the Democratic nomination, based on CNN. Goldwyn will host Monday night, Navarro will host Tuesday, and Kaling is about to host Wednesday.
Political stars can even join the Hollywood hosts. Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton are scheduled to talk at the DNC, and President Joe Biden will open the convention.
Washington has been an lively Democratic supporter for years. She previously spoke at the Democratic National Convention in 2012 and 2020, where she opened the third night, based on CNN. The “UnPrisoned” star is so lively in politics that she founded her own non-profit organizationInfluence Change, which “recruits other artists to promote civic engagement.”
“Through Influence Change, Washington recruited more than 250 celebrities in 2020 to help promote voter registration, early voting, recruit election workers and develop a voting plan,” Harvard reported, based on CNN.

In a recent interview with Washington, she spoke about her concentrate on political engagement. CNNsaying, “Democracies work best when everyone votes. As a public figure, it’s important to me to remind people of their political power and share any information I have that helps them step into their power.”
