Usher postpones more tour dates after injuring neck during rehearsal
Usher announced he would need to postpone two additional shows on the tour on Thursday, a day after postponing the primary show of his “Past Present Future” tour.
The “Confessions” singer revealed this in a post on Instagram that he suffered a neck injury during rehearsals for the tour, which was scheduled to start in Atlanta on Wednesday, August 14. Usher’s doctors initially thought he would have the ability to perform on Friday and Saturday, August 16 and 17, on the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, but he needs more time to recuperate.
“Earlier this week, I injured my neck while rehearsing to give my fans the best USHER performance of all time,” the singer said in a press release. “My hope was that with physical therapy and medical treatment, I would be able to overcome the injury and be ready for opening night. Unfortunately, the injury has not yet healed, and my doctors have advised me not to perform any shows this week.”
Usher delivered some “good news”: His doctors have told him that “with proper rest and treatment” he can be able to perform during his next scheduled tour stop in Washington, D.C., next Tuesday, August 20.
“I love my fans and thank you for understanding that this injury needs to be healed so that I can give you the 100% perfect performance you expect from USHER and that I will be back on stage in your city very soon,” he concluded.
Usher’s Atlanta shows, scheduled for August 14, 16 and 17, have been rescheduled to December 9, 10 and 12, respectively.
