Singer and actress Chloe Bailey is the most recent cover star magazine, and in her cover story, she shared some intimate thoughts concerning the experience of recording her new album in St. Lucia. Bailey, 26, traveled to the Caribbean island to record . The singer said that in her time there, she found solace, acceptance and creativity in the Eastern Caribbean locale. Her sophomore album was released on Aug. 9.

“I can walk around without makeup, I can walk around loving my body, I can go to the ocean and just pray to God and thank him for the blessings that I have,” she said in an interview.

“And it reminds me that life isn’t just about what my career is. It’s not about external validation, it’s about internal peace. I really wanted people to feel the peace and love that this place brought me, where it was able to open up my creative mind and my creative spirit, to literally write down my problems in paradise. And the album feels like what a summer adventure is, the back and forth, the ups, the downs, the love.”

The singer has had a protracted road to self-discovery since becoming a solo artist. Her rise to fame began as one half of a band with sister Halle Bailey, with the 2 posting covers of hits on YouTube once they were young.

Chloe, who recently turned 26, said she desires to proceed her journey of self-love at this new age.

“This year I want to achieve greater calmness and more discipline in dealing with my emotions,” she said.

“That’s my goal for this year, and it’s off to a great start because I’m learning so much about myself, the power of not revealing everything all the time, of keeping some things to yourself. Not everyone deserves access to your thoughts, dreams, aspirations, inner thoughts, and even emotions.”

The singer also admitted that she is glad to be an aunt to her nephew Halo, but expressed concerns about starting her family.

“Sometimes society puts pressure on us. I just turned 26, and sometimes they say, ‘You have to settle down and have kids and do this,'” she said. “But I think I can have a little more time because I have the best nephew in the world, and I have the best of both worlds.”
